Purpose
The Store Director is responsible for directing and supervising all functions and activities of the retail store and its personnel to achieve sales, labor, customer service, and profitability goals. The Store Director provides leadership to ensure a safe, productive, and customer-focused environment while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop department managers and store associates.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, and teamwork.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and career development.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and retain high-performing associates.
  • Ensure succession planning for key leadership positions.
Customer Experience
  • Promote exceptional customer service throughout the store.
  • Resolve customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure store conditions support a positive shopping experience.
  • Drive customer loyalty and community engagement initiatives.
Financial Performance
  • Achieve sales, profitability, labor, and expense goals.
  • Analyze financial reports and operational metrics to identify opportunities.
  • Develop and execute action plans to improve store performance.
  • Monitor and control payroll, shrink, inventory levels, and operating expenses.
Operations Management
  • Oversee all daily store operations and departmental activities.
  • Ensure compliance with merchandising, pricing, inventory, and replenishment standards.
  • Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and overall presentation.
  • Coordinate activities across all departments to maximize efficiency and execution.
Safety, Compliance & Asset Protection
  • Maintain a safe environment for customers and associates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, labor regulations, and operational standards.
  • Support asset protection programs and shrink reduction initiatives.
  • Address operational and compliance issues promptly and effectively.
Merchandising & Sales Growth
  • Execute promotional programs and merchandising strategies.
  • Ensure departments maintain proper in-stock conditions and presentation standards.
  • Identify local opportunities to drive sales and improve market competitiveness.
  • Monitor product quality and freshness standards throughout the store.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial reports and operational metrics.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, inventory management, and labor planning.
  • Proficiency with applicable retail systems and technology.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Several years of progressive retail management experience.
  • Previous experience leading multiple departments and large teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field.
  • Grocery or food retail management experience.
  • Experience managing high-volume retail operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry products and materials consistent with store operations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the store and perform managerial oversight functions.
Working Conditions
  • Retail grocery store environment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer areas.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, associates, vendors, and corporate partners.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring effective multitasking and prioritization.
