Compounding

Position Summary:

The Sterile Compounding Lead drives safe, compliant, and scalable execution of sterile compounding operations that directly protect patients, strengthen production reliability, and support Empower's growth agenda. This role owns shift-level workflow, aseptic discipline, documentation accuracy, technician readiness, and real-time issue escalation across a highly regulated 503A/503B environment. By using AI-enabled tools to accelerate scheduling insight, detect process variation, strengthen decision-making, and improve quality at scale, the Lead converts operational complexity into disciplined performance. Success requires experienced talent capable of balancing strategic thinking, execution rigor, learning agility, and the ability to raise standards while developing others. The role partners across Pharmacy Operations, Quality, Training, and Production to deliver compliant CSP output, reduce risk, and build a high-accountability culture aligned with Empower's hyper-growth operating model, while expanding capacity, consistency, readiness, resilience, throughput, and audit performance.
Responsibilities:

Sterile Operations
  • Aseptic Execution: Lead sterile compounding activities with disciplined adherence to cGMP, SOPs, USP expectations, and aseptic technique. Use AI-enabled workflow signals to anticipate constraints, balance resources, and sustain compliant throughput while modeling precision, urgency, and right-first-time execution.
  • Workflow Control: Coordinate shift priorities, room readiness, staffing, and production handoffs to ensure CSPs are prepared accurately and on schedule. Apply AI-supported dashboards to identify bottlenecks, reduce delays, and maintain quality-centered production flow.
  • Resource Readiness: Verify that materials, equipment, documentation, and cleanroom conditions are prepared before compounding begins. Use AI-supported trend analysis to identify recurring readiness gaps, escalate constraints early, and strengthen predictable execution in Empower's 503A/503B environment.

Quality And Compliance
  • Quality Ownership: Reinforce frontline quality discipline through observation, coaching, and immediate correction of nonconforming behaviors. Use AI-enabled anomaly detection and documentation insights to identify weak signals, prevent errors, and protect patient safety.
  • Compliance Rigor: Maintain inspection-ready execution by ensuring adherence to cGMP, USP, FDA, state board, and Empower standards. Use AI-supported compliance trends to prioritize interventions, strengthen accountability, and sustain regulatory confidence.
  • Documentation Precision: Ensure compounding records, equipment logs, cleaning documentation, and production entries are accurate, timely, and traceable. Use AI-assisted review tools and error analytics to reduce rework, improve record integrity, and support release readiness.

Team Leadership
  • Team Coaching: Train and mentor technicians on aseptic discipline, procedural accuracy, safety expectations, and documentation standards. Use AI-enabled competency data to personalize coaching, accelerate proficiency, and build a scalable, high-accountability team.
  • Performance Accountability: Set clear expectations for shift execution, cleanroom conduct, documentation quality, and escalation discipline. Use AI-supported metrics to identify variation, address capability gaps, and reinforce consistent performance under production pressure. Responsible for delivery of the production schedule and acts as point of contact in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Learning Agility: Stay current on sterile compounding practices, regulatory expectations, and Empower process changes. Use AI tools to synthesize updates, identify learning priorities, and translate new requirements into clear team behaviors.

Cross Functional Execution
  • Crossfunctional Partnership: Partner with Quality, Training, Pharmacy Operations, Materials, and Production leaders to resolve constraints and align execution. Use AI-enabled data views to accelerate root-cause discussions and improve throughput, compliance, and service reliability.
  • Issue Escalation: Identify safety, quality, staffing, equipment, material, and process risks early, escalating with facts and urgency. Use AI-supported alerts and trend indicators to improve situational awareness and protect business continuity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead practical improvements that reduce defects, simplify work, and improve flow without creating compliance risk. Use AI to analyze delays, documentation errors, training gaps, and deviation themes that strengthen sterile compounding performance.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of sterile compounding operations, cGMP expectations, USP standards, aseptic technique, controlled environments, equipment use, and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to use AI-enabled dashboards, workflow signals, trend analysis, and digital tools to improve scheduling, quality visibility, training focus, and operational decisions.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and escalation skills with the ability to reinforce standards and sustain accountability under production pressure.
