Job Summary

The Michigan Arthroplasty Registry Collaborative Quality Initiative(MARCQI) is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) and Blue Care Network (BCN) Collaborative Quality Initiative (CQI) that aims to address inconsistencies and variations in patient outcomes related to hip and knee joint replacement surgery. The goals of MARCQI are to create a statewide quality improvement infrastructure by developing a consortium of hospitals in Michigan to engage in quality improvement activities for hip and knee joint replacement surgery procedures and reduce the costs of this care in the State of Michigan. We are bringing together arthroplasty practices across the state of Michigan to collaborate and share data regarding processes of care and clinical outcomes in the treatment of hip and knee replacement procedures. We are seeking a highly skilled individual who will serve as a Statistician, Lead for our Coordinating Center full-time located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A cover letter is required to apply. The MARCQI Coordinating Center collects and analyzes multi-sites observational data. This position supports various statistical activities for quality improvements, quarterly reports and state-wide collaborative meetings, under the supervision of faculty biostatisticians, depending on level of experience.

Responsibilities*

This person will serve as a member of the MARCQI analytic team and be responsible for working closing with analytic team members, MARCQI Senior Program Manager, MARCQI Program Directors, and MARCQI coordinators.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Design and conduct statistical analyses in support of MARCQI's mission of quality improvement
    • Select data samples and analyze using established statistical methods.
    • Explore and learn statistical methods and techniques in published literature to apply to MARCQI's quality improvement efforts
    • Analyze, compare, and evaluate courses of action
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret a wide variety of data.
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge to the completion of complex projects
  • Recommend changes in procedures based on analysis of data.
  • Produce charts, graphs, tables, and other visual aids communicating methods and findings for team, committee, and collaborative-wide meetings
  • Perform data queries, develop risk adjusted reports from the database that differ from the raw data reports produced by database vendor; target specific metrics associated with data validity and reliability.
  • Supply and present written documentation and summaries of analysis and methods for MARCQI staff and directors.
  • Analytically lead quality improvement projects with outside partners
  • Support manuscripts preparations for publication and provide statistical support for MARCQI partners preparing manuscripts for publication.
  • Develop external documentation of projects and efforts
  • Attend and engage in MARCQI meetings where results of analyses are presented to the MARCQI collaborative members and best practices are shared.
  • Share guidance and support for data collection strategies and problems, programming issues, supplemental analysis, and reporting of MARCQI data.
  • Communicate input regarding expectations for site; required data elements dictionary. Review the development and preparation of registry report tools, data collection tools, and data system training manuals; policies and procedures necessary to assure data quality and data flow; surveillance and longitudinal follow-up protocols.
  • Create datasets for data received from database vendor, data loading, cleaning, and formatting subsequent analysis; provide statistical analysis and SAS programming for metric reports and longitudinal follow up.
  • Actively participate in and attend all MARCQI collaborative meetings.
  • Assist sites and MARCQI Coordinators with data analysis report generation related to quality improvement projects.
  • Complete other assigned projects, as needed

  • Experience managing large, complex datasets
