Job SummaryOversees all passenger and train-related functions within station operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment. This role provides strong leadership and daily direction to station employees, fostering a high-performing team responsible for boarding, baggage handling, ticketing, passenger assistance, and station maintenance. The Station Manager I ensures operational excellence by maintaining compliance with company policies, optimizing staffing and workflows, and supporting on-time performance. The role also manages customer interactions, addresses service issues, and oversees station budgets, payroll, and support services to achieve operational, financial, and service delivery goals.
This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak's sole and absolute discretion.
Essential Functions- Oversee station service operations within an assigned area, prioritizing passenger satisfaction and achieving optimal customer service levels.
- Manage passenger interaction processes to ensure safety, satisfaction, and adherence to on-time performance standards.
- Supervise and develop station service employees, including training, performance measurement, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
- Serve as a liaison with other departments to coordinate and resolve service issues, including train delays, equipment problems, and service disruptions, ensuring passenger accommodation and crew availability.
- Foster productive relationships, implement safety plans, and ensure compliance with new policies.
Minimum QualificationsPreferred Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
- Plus 2 year of relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Extensive management experience in passenger handling, service delivery, and station operations
- Proficient in administering contracts related to station operations
- Demonstrate leadership in managing diverse teams with innovative management skills
- Proven track record of effectively managing station operations and budgets
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for effective collaboration
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, safety programs, and Amtrak labor agreements
The salary for Station Mgr I is $103,400 and $108,400 for Station Mgr II. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
