Job Description:This position will lead engagements involving state and local income tax planning, compliance, and consulting, including the coordination of services across multiple jurisdictions. Responsibilities include researching complex multi-state tax issues, identifying planning opportunities, and overseeing the preparation and review of state and local income tax returns and related filings. This position also involves managing and mentoring a team of professionals with expertise in SALT, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality client service in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
As a
State and Local Income Tax Manager, you will have the opportunity to:
- Research complex state and local income tax issues and opportunities
- Lead, supervise, and review the preparation of state and local income tax returns and related disclosures
- Develop and present state and local income tax planning strategies for corporations, partnerships, and pass-through entities
- Coordinate and lead annual recurring state income tax compliance and consulting engagements, including managing timelines, overseeing staff, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring accurate and timely filing across multiple jurisdictions
- Collaborate with professionals in other tax delivery units to provide integrated client solutions
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team of professionals with expertise in state and local taxation
- Deliver exceptional client service by managing multiple engagements simultaneously and maintaining strong client relationships
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation or JD/LLM a plus
- CPA or JD required
- 5+ years of prior public accounting experience
- Strong state tax background, including experience with consolidated C corporations, partnerships, and S corporations
- Experience with state and local income tax compliance and consulting, including apportionment, state modifications, nexus considerations, unitary/combined reporting, and state-level tax planning
- Familiarity with state-level implications of mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and management skills, with proven experience leading teams and engagements
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and communicate complex state tax issues clearly and effectively

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $102,500.00 - $209,400.00 per year.This role follows a hybrid work model for candidates located near a Crowe office. Candidates who are not within commuting distance of a Crowe office may be considered for a remote work arrangement, subject to business needs.
