Full Job Description
This position is based at Amazon's Bellevue, WA corporate office (SEA104). Candidates must be available to work on-site at the Bellevue location for the duration of the spring semester. During the summer months, occasional travel to Amazon fulfillment centers under construction and other corporate offices across the United States may be required. The Startup Project Manager Internship is an on-site part-time internship (20 hours a week) during the Spring 2027 academic season (February/March 2027 - May/June 2027) based at a Amazon fulfillment center under construction. Upon school release for Summer 2027 (May/June 2027 - July/August 2027) this position shifts to a 12-week internship "full-time" (40 hours/week) with potential travel opportunities to other fulfillment centers under construction and corporate offices across the United States. Amazon's Global Engineering, Maintenance, & Sustainability (GEMS) Organization is looking for innovative and solutions-oriented interns to support our project management function. Startup Project Manager interns will support the coordination and execution of new build infrastructure and expansion/retrofit projects, working alongside senior Project Managers to help deliver complex projects on time, within budget, and to Amazon's standards. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to large-scale industrial project launches while developing your project management expertise through mentorship and real-world execution. Key job responsibilities Project Management & Execution Actively develop project management expertise through on-the-job execution, mentorship, and Amazon training programs Partner with program managers and business leaders to secure resources, scope efforts, set project priorities and milestones, drive delivery, and impact critical business initiatives Own program communication, accelerating progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, clearing blockers, and presenting project status and recommendations to senior leadership Anticipate program changes and work with stakeholders to understand associated impacts Conduct data analysis to identify issues and implement significant process improvement projects that streamline workflows and create efficiencies within the team and larger business functions Process and upload detailed procurement requirements into purchasing systems to generate and manage purchase order requisitions Monitor and resolve customer tickets through established queue system while maintaining service level agreements (SLAs) and providing support via email, video conferencing, and other mechanisms Create, update and maintain comprehensive training documentation and standard operating procedures Thrive both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating exceptional ability to navigate ambiguous environments while consistently maintaining high-performance standards and delivering results Learning & Continuous Improvement Actively develop project management expertise through on-the-job execution, mentorship, and Amazon training programs Document lessons learned and contribute to process improvement initiatives Identify and suggest improvements within assigned workstreams Seek exposure to all phases of the project lifecycle to build breadth of knowledge and readiness for advancement Develop proficiency with Amazon's project management tools and systems A day in the life During the spring semester, Startup PM interns work part-time at the Corporate Office, supporting project management activities such as updating project schedules, tracking budgets and purchase orders, preparing status reports, coordinating with procurement and 3PL partners, and supporting stakeholder communications. You will work under regular guidance from Startup Supply Chain (SSC) Project Managers, building your knowledge of project management concepts and Amazon's startup processes while contributing to real project deliverables. During the summer full-time period, interns travel to project sites to support active startup projects, attend stakeholder meetings, coordinate with vendors, and gain firsthand exposure to Amazon's new tools and expansion projects. You will work across multiple stakeholder groups and build effective working relationships while developing toward independence under the mentorship of senior Project Managers.
