Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage Transit Operators focusing on scheduling and daily operations.
  • Administer and oversee safety programs and conduct accident investigations.
  • Drive designated routes as needed, providing backup in emergency situations.
  • Train and coach Transit Operators on compliance and operational standards.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints and operational issues effectively.
  • Dispatch operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth transit operations.
  • Review and approve shift work and timesheets for proper record-keeping.

$84,400 - $100,000 DOQ • Full Benefits • Non-Exempt

The Town of Jackson is seeking a transit professional to join our leadership team at START. This position reports to the Transit Operations Manager and supervises a team of Transit Operators by scheduling, overseeing, training, and monitoring daily activities of on-road operations, administering safety programs, conducting accident investigations, monitoring vehicle repair and maintenance, and also driving routes. Key responsibilities include management and leadership; monitoring, training and coaching Transit Operators; backup for emergency situations; responding to customer complaints or issues; working closely with Transit Operators for compliance with drug and alcohol testing requirements; dispatching operations during assigned shifts; and review and approval of shift work and time sheets.

The ideal candidate brings:
  • High School/GED.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) w/passenger endorsement.
  • Current Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
  • 1-2 years of driving experience carrying passengers + 6 months of administrative/office experience.
  • Strong database, writing, and administrative skills.
  • The ability to work effectively, positively, and professionally with Transit Operators, administration, and the public.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and capacity to anticipate and resolve issues.
