Full Job Description
STAFF VETERINARIAN
Ready to make a powerful impact where you are needed most? Founded in 1949, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is Southern Colorado's largest animal welfare organization, taking in approximately 25,000 animals annually between our two shelter locations. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, with multiple county and city contracts for sheltering and animal law enforcement. In 2025, we completed 15,700 spay/neuter surgeries. We operate two thriving Wellness Clinics providing affordable vaccines and spay/neuter services to the public. HSPPR is powered by over 250 dedicated staff members and hundreds of volunteers. We value compassion, collaboration, and service, all while prioritizing staff wellbeing. Join HSPPR and make your calling your career!
About the job:
As one of ten shelter staff veterinarians at HSPPR, you will rotate through different tracks daily. You may spend your day performing HQHV spay/neuter surgeries for shelter, TNR, and community animals, or maybe you are designing life-saving treatment plans, performing advanced procedures (like amputations and foreign body removals), or perhaps you are providing some much-needed dental care for our shelter animals prior to adoption. One thing is certain, every day is different, offering a new, rewarding challenge!

• Become part of a team focused on impactful work, while prioritizing the human animal bond and access to veterinary care.
• Collaborate and work with our team of ten highly skilled veterinarians in areas of shelter medicine, HQHV spay/neuter, TNR, emergency procedures and dentals, or provide wellness services to the owned animals in our community.
• Work in our renovated, fully equipped Colorado Springs shelter clinic.
• Use your skills to help fulfill the need in the Pueblo community at our Pueblo shelter, the Pueblo Wellness Clinic, or our mobile unit, the Wellness Waggin'.
• Enjoy a busy, but supportive working environment with skilled medical staff aiding you in surgery, patient care and wellness.
• Work with a leadership team that is as committed to your wellbeing as we are to animal welfare.
• Bring your passion, find your purpose!
