What you'll do...
Role summary:

Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through system design reviews and mentorship. Collaborating across teams, you will translate complex user needs into actionable solutions, promote engineering best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement. Your expertise will support innovation, operational efficiency, and the delivery of high-quality software aligned with strategic priorities.
What you'll do:
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, observability, and maintenance.
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
  • Lead system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
  • Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components to support automation and multi-step reasoning.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
