Full Job Description

Job Description

At General Motors, we are working to create a future with zero crashes, zeroemissionsand zero congestion. This role offers the opportunity to help transform how vehicles are developed by scaling virtual engineering and calibration methods across complex hardware and software systems.

You will join a cross-functional team advancing co-simulation (CoSIM)—the coordinated simulation of physical-system models and virtual electronic control units—to help engineering teams evaluate and calibrate vehicle capabilities earlier, faster and with fewer physical prototypes. The work connects software, controls, systems engineering, calibration, validationand vehicle-program execution in a high-visibility environment where practical execution and technical judgment matter.

The Role

The Staff Program Manager, CoSIM and Calibration will lead the execution of GM’s transition toward using CoSIM environments for selected calibration and system-regression activities. The role will establish the operating rhythm, governance, priorities and cross-functional accountability needed to turn a promising virtual capability into a repeatable product-development method.

This is a Staff-level program leadership role for someone who can move between strategy and day-to-day execution. You will bring structure to an evolving initiative, resolve competing priorities, make risks visible, and create alignment across technical teams and leadership. Success will be measured by adoption of reliable virtual methods, improved execution flow, reduced dependence on development vehicles where technicallyappropriate, and contribution to a shorter vehicle-development cycle.

WhatYou’llDo

  • Own the integrated CoSIM and calibration execution roadmap, including scope, milestones, dependencies, decision points, resourceneedsand measurable outcomes.

  • Lead cross-functional execution across calibration, controls, software, systems engineering, validation, vehicle programs, testfacilitiesand external partners to deliver agreed capabilities on time and with quality.

  • Establish andmaintaina clear operating model for intake, prioritization, ownership, handoffs, issue escalation and decision-making across program and capability work.

  • Drive readiness of the virtual assetsrequiredfor execution, including simulation variants, plant and controller models, calibration inputs, test scenarios, dataand supporting tools.

  • Partner with technical leaders to define repeatable calibration and regression workflows, including version control, traceability, approval paths, releasereadinessand continuous improvement.

  • Identifyand resolve technical, organizational and schedule risks; surface trade-offs early and provide leadership with concise status, optionsand recommendations.

  • Create transparent reporting for program health, capability maturity, adoption, quality, cycle time, physical-assetutilizationand other agreed success measures.

  • Represent the initiative in senior leadership reviews and technical forums, translating complex engineering issues into clear business decisions and actionable commitments.

  • Mentor program and technical leads and build a culture of ownership, collaboration, urgencyand fact-based problem solving.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated success leading technically complex, cross-functional programs from strategy through implementation and operational adoption.

  • Practical understanding of vehicle controls, embedded software, calibration, virtualvalidationor related engineering-development workflows.

  • Experience coordinating teams through ambiguity, competing priorities, dependenciesand issues without relying solely on formal authority.

  • Strong written, verbaland executive communication skills, including the ability to present risks, decisionsand recommendations to senior leaders.

  • Demonstrated ownership of outcomes, disciplined follow-throughand a commitmentto safety, qualityand customer needs.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with co-simulation, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, model-baseddevelopmentor other virtual engineering methods.

  • Experience with automotive calibration, propulsion or vehicle-motion controls, embedded controllers, plantmodelsor system-level testing.

  • Experience scaling engineering capabilities across multiple programs, architecturesor product teams.

  • Familiarity with automated regression, continuous integration and continuous delivery, data-drivenengineeringor version-controlled calibration repositories.

  • Experience defining governance, responsibility models, standard work, readinesscriteriaand performance metrics for a new capability.

  • Knowledge of vehicle development milestones and the interactions among software, hardware, calibration, validationand vehicle-program teams.

  • Experience reducing physical-test dependency, improving first-timequalityor shortening development-cycle time through process and technology innovation.

Behavioral Competencies

  • Win with Integrity: Build trust through transparent commitments, soundjudgmentand honest escalation.

  • Lead as One Team: Align diverse technical teams around a common outcome and collaborate across organizational boundaries.

  • Own the Outcome: Take accountability for delivery, including dependencies outside the immediate team.

  • Commit to Customers:Focusvirtual engineering improvements on the needs of calibration teams, engineering partnersand vehicle programs.

  • Move with Urgency: Convert ambiguity into an executable plan and remove roadblocks before they affect critical-path milestones.

  • Innovate and Embrace Change: Challenge existing methods and scale better ways of working when evidence supports the change.

Reasons to Apply

  • Shape a high-impact capability that can change how GM develops and calibrates vehicles.

  • Work at the intersection of vehicle engineering, software, controls, simulationand program execution.

  • Influence an enterprise initiative with visibility from technical teams through senior leadership.

  • Help convert virtual development from an emerging practice into repeatable, measurable execution across programs.

  • Deliver outcomes that can reduce development-vehicle demand, improve engineeringefficiencyand help GM move products to customers faster.

  • Grow as a technical program leader while working with experts across multiple engineering disciplines.

Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Benefit options include medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plan, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, employee assistance program, GM vehicle discounts and more.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
