Full Job Description
You will be joining the LillyDirect design team, building one of the most ambitious direct-to-patient platforms in the industry. LillyDirect connects people to Lilly's medicines, care programs, and support services in one seamless experience. We work at the intersection of healthcare, commerce, and human need, and we hold ourselves to the highest standard of clarity, accessibility, and care in every interaction we design.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Product Designer at Lilly, you will work across the full arc of design delivery - from making sense of research and shaping the problem, to crafting the interactions, nailing the visual execution, and getting it across the finish line with engineering and product. At Lilly, that means your work has real stakes: the people on the other end of your screens are patients, caregivers, and the scientists trying to help them.

This role leans toward visual and UI design, but it is not a narrow visual-only role. We are looking for a strong hybrid product designer who can raise the bar on interface quality, systems thinking, and overall product polish while also working confidently through flows, structure, and interaction design.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Great design at Lilly starts here. These are the responsibilities we will expect from you:

  • Elevate and maintain design standards through direct contribution across a wide range of outputs and mediums, from digital products to patient-facing experiences.

  • Bring attention to detail and a passion for all aspects of design including typography, motion, copy, composition, and art direction.

  • Understand component-based design systems and know when to follow existing patterns and when to break constraints.

  • Present and persuasively communicate design rationale at all levels, incorporate feedback constructively, and build trust with collaborators across the organization.

  • Demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and initiative, with the ability to prioritize and deliver results efficiently.

  • Embrace a learning and growth mindset, stay current on industry trends and tools, and contribute positively to a culture of critique, collaboration, and honest reflection at Design@Lilly.

  • Raise the bar for visual quality, interaction detail, and product polish across LillyDirect surfaces.

  • Contribute to and evolve the design system at the component and pattern level, ensuring consistency without sacrificing clarity or usability.

  • Partner with product and engineering to shape solutions, not just execute screens, bringing equal strength to problem framing and final execution.

  • Set the craft standard for the team, producing sophisticated work others reference and build from.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment on design direction across a product area.

  • Shape team culture through critique leadership, mentorship, and active contribution to Design@Lilly practices.

  • Shape how products look and feel, owning visual quality across typography, color, composition, and motion.

  • Contribute to and evolve the design system at the component and pattern level.

  • Deliver polished, production-ready assets across web, mobile, and other digital formats.

  • Operate as a hybrid product designer, pairing strong UI craft with solid UX judgment across flows, interaction patterns, and end-to-end user experience.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Design (Digital Design, Interaction Design, Visual Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field)
  • Or high school diploma/GED with 5+ years of equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in product, UX, or visual design for digital products and experiences
  • An exceptional portfolio of design work spanning multiple projects and mediums, with a focus on interface or screen-based experiences
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States; Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Preferences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with a high level of intellectual curiosity and a passion for innovation in digital healthOutstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to make complex ideas clear and actionable for a broad range of collaborators
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to build strong working relationships and navigate conflict constructively with peers and partners
  • Strong visual craft with excellent command of type, grid, composition, and color, while remaining capable across core UX responsibilities including flows, interaction design, and problem framing

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$126,000 - $202,400

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Lilly reserves the right to amend, modify, or terminate its compensation and benefit programs in its sole discretion and Lilly's compensation practices and guidelines will apply regarding the details of any promotion or transfer of Lilly employees.
