DescriptionThe University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered
100% Staff Nurse to work at our Heartland Drive Clinic. This position will support our Internal Medicine Clinic. This position will support the clinic in providing phone triage support, helping with prior authorizations, as well as assist with nurse visits.
Our Internal Medicine staff serve adult patients and address needs ranging from prevention to routine care of illness and injury to specialized care for the most complex diseases, injuries, and conditions. UI Health Care specialists will consult the same medical record used by our family medicine provider so our patients specialty care is streamlined.
This position will mainly support our patients at the Heartland Drive Clinic but could float to other clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours.
This position offers free parking!!! #UICC #RN #staffnurse #bestbenefits #clinicposition Duties to include: - Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
- Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
- Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
- Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
- Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
- Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
- Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
- Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Variable hours, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. Standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. No on call time, weekends, or holidays required.
Location: Coralville Heartland Drive Clinic (and surround clinics/locations based on clinic needs)
Pay Grade: 52 - https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/plans
Salary: $59,315 - $108,805
(based on years of experience) Qualifications Education - An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Required Qualifications - Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
- General computer skills are required.
- Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
- Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
Desirable Qualifications- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
- Strong patient care experience: 1-2 years of ambulatory or clinic experience.
- Previous experience with triage phone calls.
- Previous experience with Epic.
- Previous experience with medication administration.
