Description

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered 100% (40 hours a week) Staff Nurse to work at our UICC Obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN), Cedar Rapids.This position will mainly support our Cedar Rapids OBGYN Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Specialty/Outreach, Family Medicine, and/or Pediatrics

Duties to include:

  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards


Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, with 8-hour shifts.. Standard clinic hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. No weekends, on call time, or holidays required.

Location: Cedar Rapids, IA (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

Pay Grade: 52 - https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/plans

Salary: $59,315- $1108,805 (based on years of experience)

Qualifications

Education

  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required


Required Qualifications

  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards


Special Qualifications:

  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.


Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Minimum 6 months - 1 year of OBGYN experience
  • Previous EPIC experience
  • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Previous experience successfully working autonomously.


Desirable Qualifications

  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
  • OBGYN knowledge/ understanding of policies procedures.
  • Previous ambulatory experience
