ABOUT THE ROLEWe're looking for a deeply technical
Staff Firmware Engineer who lives at the lowest levels of the stack from bootloaders, device drivers, board bring-up and cross-domain bugs that span hardware, firmware, and software. You'll own embedded firmware end-to-end across systems that fly, drive, and dive (Menace, Dive-XL, Ghost, Roadrunner), working shoulder-to-shoulder with Electrical Engineering on some of the hardest problems our customers face.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Architect and develop low-level firmware for microcontrollers; build reusable device drivers and system-level features for an ever-growing codebase
- Take full ownership of embedded firmware projects from design through deployment
- Debug and troubleshoot issues spanning the electrical/firmware/software boundary
- Help select MCUs and peripherals and review schematics with EE
- Mentor firmware engineers and shape engineering best practices
- Concurrently drive multiple projects at various stages
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- BS or MS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent industry experience
- Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
- Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors
- Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments
- Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring up and debugging
- Some familiarity with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, etc.
- U.S. Persons status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC, etc.)
- Debugging skills with JTAG, SWD, Oscilloscopes, and Logic analyzers
- Have a bias for action. If you see a problem, you want to solve and fix it
- Be naturally curious about the technologies and tools you use
