This position will focus on designing and developing Android applications for our in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) platform, enhancing the performance, reliability, and user experience of our automotive software. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Android application architecture and will thrive in a collaborative environment.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do...
- Drive the design and development of Android applications and reusable libraries for our in-vehicle infotainment platform.
- Build and maintain app-level integrations with system services and vehicle APIs, consuming AIDL interfaces and Android services exposed by the platform.
- Work closely with product managers, UX designers, and hardware teams to gather requirements and define technical solutions for infotainment features.
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot application-level issues, ensuring high efficiency, responsiveness, and user satisfaction.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to best coding practices and high-quality standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation covering app architecture, workflows, and technical specifications.
QualificationsYou'll have...
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 8+ years of software development experience, particularly in Android application development and experience working on AOSP-based platforms.
- Strong expertise in Java and Kotlin; familiarity with C/C++ or Rust is a plus.
Deep understanding of Android application lifecycle management, services, and IPC methods (Binder). - Experience integrating Android applications with hardware-backed services and platform APIs, including consuming HAL-backed functionality exposed to the app layer.
- Familiarity with Android Interface Definition Language (AIDL) for consuming and managing IPC mechanisms within applications.
- Proficient in using modern development tools and methodologies, including Agile practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven ability to analyze and optimize application performance while prioritizing an exceptional in-vehicle user experience.

This position is a leadership level 6 and ranges from $150,200-$283,500.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
