Job Description Summary
We are seeking an actuarial professional to join a newly formed team within Life Valuation focused on advancing strategic priorities across valuation, modeling, data infrastructure, and process transformation. The team was established to help shift the organization from reactive issue resolution toward proactive identification of opportunities, operational efficiencies, and long-term capability development.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future state of valuation processes, improve data and reporting capabilities, support enterprise initiatives, and contribute to key business and financial reporting priorities. The successful candidate will work across actuarial, finance, data, and technology functions to deliver meaningful improvements that enhance efficiency, transparency, and decision-making.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Valuation Strategy & Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve valuation processes, controls, and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead and support initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, and consistency across valuation activities.
  • Help transition valuation efforts from ad hoc investigations and manual analyses to proactive monitoring and issue identification.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate current processes and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Support valuation model development, enhancement, and validation efforts.
  • Participate in initiatives related to financial reporting modernization and future-state valuation capabilities.


Data Infrastructure & Analytics
  • Analyze and improve valuation data sourcing and data flow processes.
  • Partner with data and technology teams to strengthen data quality, transparency, and governance.
  • Develop analytical tools, reporting capabilities, and dashboards that provide timely insights to management.
  • Automate manual processes and strengthen controls to reduce operational risk and improve reporting efficiency.


Enterprise Projects & Strategic Analysis
  • Support high-priority strategic ad-hoc projects across the Life business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop solutions for complex actuarial and business challenges.
  • Provide analytical support for initiatives involving valuation, financial reporting, modeling, and process transformation.
  • Assist with implementation and integration activities associated with new business opportunities and strategic initiatives.


Assumption Governance & Analytical Support (as needed to support other team members)
  • Support assumption review, monitoring, and governance processes.
  • Perform analyses to assess the business impact of assumption changes and emerging experience trends.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline assumption maintenance activities while maintaining appropriate governance standards.
  • Assist in developing frameworks and methodologies that improve efficiency and prioritization of actuarial work.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in life valuation, financial reporting, assumption development, or actuarial modeling.
  • Exposure to US GAAP, statutory reporting, principle-based reserving, or related valuation frameworks.
  • Experience with business process improvement, automation, or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong data analytics skills, including experience with SQL, Python, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with actuarial modeling platforms such as AXIS or comparable systems.
  • Experience developing management reporting, dashboards, or analytical solutions.


Working Conditions
  • This is a hybrid position requiring three days (Tuesday-Thursday) in office per week in one of our hub locations (Cedar Rapids, Baltimore, Philadelphia, or Denver).
  • Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position


Compensation

The salary for this position generally ranges between $100,000 -$125,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus of 12.5% based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company's discretion.
