The Staff Accountant - Tax & Treasury Operations will support key finance and accounting operations, with a focus on indirect tax compliance, cash flow reporting, and operational accounting. This role will be responsible for preparing and filing excise taxes, sales and use tax returns, and other regulatory filings while also supporting treasury activities, cash forecasting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes. This role reports directly to Tilley's Assistant Controller.
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting
- Operational filings and payments related to sales and use tax, income tax, property tax, IFTA, heavy highway tax, ethanol excise tax and business property tax
- Bi-Weekly ethanol tax and operational filings calculations
- Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns
- Support tax audits and inquiries
- Maintain tax calendars and ensure timely submission of all filings
- Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts and investigate variances
Treasury and Cash Flow Management
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow reports
- Assist with cash forecasting and liquidity planning
- Monitor bank account activity and perform cash reconciliations
- Support treasury operations, including wire transfers, ACH transactions, and banking administration
- Maintain schedules and reporting related to borrowing facilities and cash management activities
General Accounting
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses
- Support month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Assist with financial reporting and management reporting packages
- Support external auditors during annual audits and reviews
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar related fields
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools
Preferred
- Master's degree in a related field or other relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CTP, CMA), a plus
- Independent / self-starter with high attention to detail

- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and to adapt to changing work priorities
- Experience collaborating and building strong relationships across teams
Compensation / Location / Other- Compensation: $75K - $95K
- Bonus Eligible
- Compensation: Commensurate with relevant experience. The compensation package will include base salary + cash bonus + benefits eligibility (health, dental, life, 401k, and paid time off)
- Location: Middle River with hybrid schedule
- Travel: up to 20% to Tilley sites
