SUMMARY

Maintains responsibility for designing and maintaining aspects of technical training programs that support Subaru technicians. Independently develops assigned curriculum modules and contributes to new technology training initiatives while partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional stakeholders. Operates with strong technical autonomy but does not hold budget or formal people management responsibility.

PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES
  • Independently designs, develops, and updates specific components of instructor-led and digital technical training curriculum, including lesson plans, student materials, assessments, and multimedia assets.
  • Coordinates with Development Managers, Multimedia Designers, and external vendors to support production of training materials and ensure alignment with development timelines.
  • Plans the development and distribution of training aids, lab materials, tools, and technical simulators. Determines how the environment (service shop or otherwise) should be arranged and which supplies are needed to best create assets including photography, measurements, videos, etc.
  • Contributes to New Technology Training (NTT) development in support of new vehicle and system launches. Creates content such as chapters of a course or training activities as well as facilitates, in front of entire Training Manager audience, own developed content as the subject matter expert (SME).
  • Support Train-the-Trainer (T3) events by assisting with content preparation, facilitation, and instructor alignment. Facilitates and presents own developed content to the Training Manager audience as the SME.
  • Maintains technical knowledge of all automotive systems and evolving diagnostic methodologies.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness through field observation, instructor feedback, and learner performance data; recommends curriculum improvements.
  • Supports departmental initiatives including planning and/or creation of events for technician competitions and special training events.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engages and collaborates with partner departments such as Quality Assurance (QA), North American Subaru, Inc. (NASI)/Subaru Corporation (SBR), Retail Operations Training, Fixed Operations, Marketing, and Product Management to anticipate and align future technical training needs.
  • Leads content working sessions with SMEs and relevant stakeholders to gather, validate, and structure technical information.
  • Reviews Subaru Academy and Aftersales Information Service (SAIS) documentation to identify curriculum updates.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 4-6 years of relevant automotive experience required
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced operational and diagnostic knowledge across all automotive systems.
  • Ability to translate complex technical diagnostics into structured learning content.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design principles for instructor-led and digital delivery formats.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent curriculum assignments and meet development deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in shop/lab environments with vehicles, diagnostic tools, and simulators.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Subaru Specialist Technician certification or ability to obtain within, 1 Year Required
  • Subaru Master Technician certification or ability to obtain within, 1 Year Preferred Or ASE Automobile & Light Truck Certifications (A1-A8) Master Automobile Technician or ability to obtain within , 1 Year Preferred Or ASE Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification (L1) or ability to obtain within , 1 Year Preferred And ASE Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist Certification (L3) or ability to obtain within , 1 Year Preferred And ASE Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Specialist Certification (L4) or ability to obtain within, 1 Year Preferred


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate's Degree required Or H.S. Diploma and equivalent automotive technical experience considered in lieu of degree required

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Required Travel: 20% Travel Required
  • Office Location: Camden, NJ; apart of the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philly)
  • Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)


COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $72000 - $95000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Additionally, this role is bonus-eligible, with a target bonus percentage that provides an opportunity to earn even more based on your performance. (Internal Job Grade: P2)
