Expected salary range of $121,500 to $135,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Primary Purpose of PositionConstellation is seeking a Systems Engineer (Storage and Backup Engineer) to provide hands-on support for the delivery and maintenance of IT solutions, specifically focusing on storage and backup technologies. This role involves analyzing complex hardware and software issues, maintaining storage platforms, and ensuring the performance and reliability of server solutions. The Systems Engineer will also be involved in customer engagement, project management services, and automating processes.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities- Accountable for engineering, implementing, and supporting solutions at the component level, including hands-on configuration, troubleshooting and optimization and supporting metrics for the same.
- Assess, develop, design & support custom system integration with platforms, specific to the needs of Security.
- Collaborate with leadership and others to develop future technology road maps, resource requirements, migrations strategies, and project schedules.
- Comprehend technologies and service offerings within the industry.
- Conduct technical discovery sessions with vendors and customers.
- Continuous improvement with technical knowledge, industry trends and business acumen within all Security disciplines or functions.
- Contribute to assigned IT projects and deployments to ensure solutions are delivered to meet business requirements.
- Determine manpower requirements for future outages and projects with the site QV personnel to support QV activities.
- Develop and provide input into presentations and/or Engineering and Architecture Review Boards.
- Establish direction and determine need for IT assessments, designs, connectivity, validating the connectivity of real-time systems and the deployment of associated technologies.
- Establish the design, configuration, deployment and operation of network systems and assist with any migrations.
- Lead and coordinate business projects, planning, maintenance and network connectivity for one or more major Business Units.
- Maintain relevancy and knowledge in current and evolving emerging networking technologies.
- Participate in potential refactoring, rebuild, or redesign required during Cloud migration.
- Provide and formalize feedback to leadership and peers to risks identified during business impact analysis, site risk assessments and disaster recovery planning.
- Provide consulting, guidance and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Provide expert-level network engineering, design and operation consultation with leadership, project teams and end users to identify system requirements and establish feasibility analysis on potential changes related to security and technical architecture.
- Serve as a senior network resource in the Hybrid Cloud enterprise journey encompassing ongoing architecture, design, planning, configuration, implementation, testing, operation and documentation of the enterprise network.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain the firm's backup and restore environment using Netbackup and Commvault.
- Administer backups in a Linux-based environment, ensuring high availability and recoverability of critical data.
- Lead the build-out of a new backup environment, including hardware/software configuration and optimization
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from a technical program with 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure or application design - or - Associate's degree from a technical program with 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure or application design - or - High School equivalent with 9 years of experience in IT infrastructure or application design.
- Provide 24x7 support and participate in on call rotation for critical production systems.
- Demonstrated expert proficiency in at least two engineering domains such as storage, compute, database, collaboration, application design, [cloud hosting and related technologies]
- Demonstrated consulting, presentation, and project management skills, with the ability to champion and influence decisions.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience administrating servers and storage on-prem (physical and virtual) and in Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Experience with Windows Server 2016-2022, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Solaris, Exadata hardware.
- Experience with scripting language such as Python, Shell.
- Demonstrated ability with knowledge in current versions of VMware hypervisor technology.
- Excellent communication skills - Able to effectively communicate highly technical information in non-technical terminology (written and verbal).
- Understanding of change management principles associated with sustaining high availability of systems and preventing change related incidents due to human performance factors.
- Experience with Azure cloud services and cloud experience.
- Certification in the relevant field of expertise
