Position Description:

Our Research & Development Division drives breakthrough science through drug discovery, development and clinical evaluation that radically changes approaches to medical need.  Finance is a trusted business partner, playing a critical role in ensuring effective resource utilization to achieve this mission. This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure and contribute to the R&D engine that drives our Company’s biopharmaceutical business.

Under the guidance of the Oncology Collaborations Finance Associate Director, the Finance Senior Specialist will:

  • Assist and provide support with assigned external Alliance partners.

  • Act as our primary Company Finance point of contact with multiple stakeholders including Global Project and Alliance Management, Product Development Team (PDT) Leaders, Alliance Managers, and Third-Party Partners.

  • Develop expense budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range operating plans in support of external and internal strategies.

  • Perform monthly close tasks, including preparing journal entries, reviewing actual results, providing variance commentary, analyzing spending trends.

  • Provide support for all internal and external governance interactions, including but not limited to Late Development Review Committee, Joint Finance Committee, Joint Development Committee and Joint Steering Committee.

  • Support project team decision making by providing relevant financial information and insight.

  • Ensure all accounting entries, payments, receipts, including milestones completed are accounted for appropriately according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and internal and external accounting guidance.

  • Ensure internal control processes are maintained in accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act.

  • Gain end-to-end exposure of our Company's drug development process and the R&D pipeline while gaining relevant experience supporting clinical out of pocket spend for the Global Clinical Development department.

  • Influence and impact by helping clients navigate a world of almost limitless scientific opportunities with limited financial resources.  A background in science is helpful but not necessary.

  • Further develop your creative thinking and problem-solving skills as many problems don’t have hard anchor points or routine analytical approaches.

  • Increase your network through engagement with both external and internal business partners (Project Mgmt., Procurement, GCTO, etc.)

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, Science or Engineering.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of operations or Finance experience

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • MBA, CPA or other Masters/PhD in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop business operations models

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Proactive approach to problem solving

  • Results and process-driven orientation

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a challenging and complex environment

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build and maintain client and peer relationships

  • Sound and balanced judgment, with the ability to assess and handle risk

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Strong computer skills especially working with Excel, SAP, Power BI and Copilot
