Location: Lancaster, PAHow will you fit in the big picture? At Hershey's Y&S Lancaster plant, you will help keep a high-speed manufacturing operation running safely, reliably, and in compliance with environmental requirements. You will operate and support the waste water pre-treatment and reverse osmosis water systems, coordinate defined technical work, and partner with plant operations, engineering, maintenance, EHS, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Your work will protect plant continuity, the surrounding environment, and our ability to make more moments of goodness.
What will you do? - Operate, monitor, test, inspect, and document waste water pre-treatment and reverse osmosis water systems, including system readings, treatment conditions, anaerobic reactor performance, and biogas operations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, coordinate corrective actions, and support maintenance and defined segments of improvement projects to strengthen reliability and operational efficiency.
- Maintain required operating records, discharge parameters, permits, reports, and maintenance documentation in accordance with company and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
- Coordinate residual, hazardous, and non-hazardous waste removal and support recycling activities that reduce waste sent to landfill.
- Support environmental and safety programs, including stormwater monitoring, spill response, confined space, asbestos, and radiation safety activities, as assigned.
- Work effectively with internal teams, on-site contractors, auditors, inspectors, and external agencies, and provide required training or documentation support.
- Participate in an alternating on-call and weekend schedule and provide schedule flexibility to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Minimum Requirements Experience: 1+ years of relevant experience in waste water treatment, water systems, environmental compliance, industrial utilities, manufacturing operations, or a related technical field.
Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or a related technical field preferred.
- Working knowledge of waste water treatment and reverse osmosis water system operating principles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, system data, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong computer, documentation, communication, assessment, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Pennsylvania DEP Wastewater Operator certification required.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $80,720 to $100,900 per year. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, education, and training.
