Job Description

Working at our Grand Rapids Facility

For more than 15 years, our manufacturing facilities in Grand Rapids have helped fuel the growth and success of GE Aerospace. We produce high-quality electronics and avionics parts and equipment to exacting standards, including Avionics Computing Systems, Mission Systems, Navigation and Guidance, and Vehicle Health & Data Management products. We’re the career home for union and non-union employees who seek purpose and challenge in their careers – people just like you.

Role Overview

The Sr Services Leader – Military Avionics leads GE Aerospace’s global Military Services business end-to-end, with full profit-and-loss (P&L) ownership and responsibility to grow the military aftermarket portfolio. Military Services is part of a $150M business and is one of the most profitable and strategically important parts of the Avionics portfolio.

The role will own Orders, Revenue, Operating Margin, and Cash commitments, set a clear customer-driven strategy, and partner with Operations and Supply Chain to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes that deepen relationships across airframers, militaries, and depots, all while building a high-performing, lean, and globally-engaged team.

This hands-on role requires a leader who thrives on going to Genba, whether that is the shop floor, the engineering lab, or the customer site, to problem-solve alongside with the team. The leader will also bring an AI-savvy mindset, applying AI to improve operational performance, drive efficiency, and improve customer outcomes.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead the global Military Services business by defining and executing strategies to deliver Orders, Revenue, Operating Margin, and Cash to budget and forecast.
  • Create strong operating cadences that build problem-solving capability, drive decisions at speed, and produce rapid issue resolution and escalation.
  • Shape and execute growth strategies for the global Avionics military aftermarket, including pipeline development, pricing, and deal economics, to capture additional market share and grow the portfolio.
  • Own key customer relationships by mapping decision-makers and aligning offerings to customer strategies across airframers, primes, militaries, and depots.
  • Guide negotiations and issue resolution to hit business-case objectives while keeping satisfaction and retention high.
  • Deliver on commitments by driving performance across Spares, Repairs, New Product Introduction (NPI), Obsolescence Refresh and Sustaining Engineering, and Performance-Based Logistics, taking corrective action when off-plan.
  • Collaborate between Avionics sites to ensure operational alignment, on-time delivery, and effective execution of complex service offerings across multiple locations.
  • Simplify the operating model by leading cross-functional change across Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Product, Sales, Digital Technology (DT), Finance, and Contracts to remove constraints and build a sustainable, lean culture.
  • Lead, develop, and coach a global organization of ~20 people for operational excellence, clear accountability, and bench depth, including succession planning for key roles.
  • Create differentiated customer value by delivering aftermarket solutions that meet or exceed customer needs, align to their priorities, and use their feedback to continuously improve.
  • Position the business for success with both legacy and emerging technologies, leading NPI, obsolescence refresh, and through-life support to sustain and grow the aftermarket.
  • Champion a FLIGHT DECK culture by coaching Lean and other problem-solving behaviors and holding leaders accountable for results and team development.
  • Travel globally as required by the business

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited university or college (or a High School diploma / GED with at least 9 years of experience in Avionics, Aerospace systems, and/or industrial environments)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Avionics and/or Aerospace systems
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Management and/or Program Management
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience directly leading people
  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship status

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Avionics and/or Aerospace systems
  • AI-savvy, with a demonstrated ability to apply AI to improve operations and customer outcomes
  • Proven lean and transformational leadership, with a strong command of FLIGHT DECK / Lean tools and methods
  • Experience leading large operations and organizations, ideally with a global, diverse military customer base
  • Proven ability to work across a matrix that includes Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Product, Sales, Digital Technology, Finance, and Contracts
  • A track record of supporting customers and being respected for building strong customer and airframer relationships
  • Background in complex commercial deals, contract negotiations, and program management in high-complexity environments
  • Strong oral and written communication, including the ability to negotiate and close complex civil and military contracts and to communicate clearly through opposing viewpoints
  • An independent, self-starter mindset, able to manage internal and external stakeholders and drive business growth
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs, understand their problem statements, and turn that insight into strategy
