Job Summary

The Senior Salesforce HealthCloud Data Engineer is responsible for the design and development of ETL jobs and related data integrations supporting TriWest's Salesforce HealthCloud implementation. The role spans the full systems development life cycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, data analysis, system design, development, implementation, and post-implementation support. During the design phase, the role works closely with Salesforce Architects and various Application Development teams. The engineer is responsible for the bidirectional ETL movement of data to and from originating source feeds (files, x12, etc.) to target systems using Salesforce Data Loader and Azure Tools.

This role operates under general supervision with significant latitude for independent action, applying advanced knowledge of data engineering principles, Salesforce HealthCloud platform integration, and healthcare data interoperability. The role engages regularly with Application Development teams, Salesforce Architects, Data Architects, business analysts, project managers, and end users on integration design and reporting needs. Decisions are guided by established enterprise architecture standards and TriWest HIPAA, privacy, and federal security policies, with escalation to the Manager, Business Applications on matters affecting platform strategy or cross-departmental dependencies. Work is performed in a federal healthcare contracting environment requiring compliance with HIPAA, DoD, and TriWest data security standards.

Education & Experience

Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field with programming and database systems coursework, or equivalent database development experience
• U.S. Citizenship
• Must be able to receive a favorable Interim and adjudicated final Department of Defense (DoD) background investigation
• 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role
• 2+ years of experience with Azure
• 3+ years of experience developing data integration related source code in SQL or equivalent
• Experience in ETL with both structured and semi-structured data
• Experience in gathering business requirements from cross-functional teams
• Experience with SDLC processes and DevOps

Preferred:
• 2+ years of experience with Databricks, preferably within Azure Cloud
• Experience with Python
• Experience with Data Governance
• Experience with Azure Data Factory or Microsoft SSIS data integration services
• Experience with SQL Server and Snowflake in Azure Cloud

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborates with Salesforce Architects to create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Salesforce data repositories to ensure alignment with defined solution architecture.
• Promotes and ensures data integrity and accuracy within the Salesforce HealthCloud application.
• Ingests, validates, and processes incoming data. Applies business rules utilizing application development and integration within Salesforce. Performs data conversions, creates data backloads, and creates outgoing data files.
• Develops and coordinates unit and integration test plans. Prepares or obtains test data. Conducts testing. Evaluates test results and defect logs and provides necessary code revisions.
• Analyzes, designs, and develops code in support of Salesforce data integration activities with third-party applications and vendors, including coordination with API development teams and other application developers.
• Implements changes and provides post-implementation user support and system support.
• Identifies and advocates beneficial change opportunities. Provides data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Evaluates and determines root cause and resolves critical data issues.
• Acts as an IT technical resource for application developers, data administrators, and department data users.
• Supports data collection and analysis of business needs, translating them into technical requirements.
• Ensures compliance with TriWest HIPAA, privacy, and government security policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
