Job Summary
KBR is seeking a Senior Advisor / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Director’s Strategic Initiatives Group (SIG) for the Joint Interagency Task Force (JIATF) 401. This position will support the SIG by providing independent strategic perspectives and analysis, shaping key products for the Military Services, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Joint Staff, the Office of the Secretary of War, Congress, and the public. The senior advisor may contribute to DoW input to White House executive orders; National Security Strategy and Security Directives; National Defense Strategy, National Military Strategy, Defense Planning Guidance, and Program and Budget Reviews. Key responsibilities include supporting the SIG and other JIATF 401 sections in managing day-to-day operations and providing the highest level of service and support to JIATF 401 government customers. The senior advisor will analyze and suggest options as the JIATF 401 shifts from focusing on unmanned aircraft systems to to all-domain responsibilities under the Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager (DRPM) for Unmanned Systems (UxS). The senior advisor will provide Department of War organizational alignment and structure perspectives and analysis to the JIATF 401 leadership on the JIATF 401 operating as an Independent Chairman’s Controlled Activity, reporting to the Director of the Joint Staff, and Serving as principal advisor for C-sUAS to both the Deputy Secretary of War and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs—while also serving under the DRPM-UxS for Counter-Unmanned Systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Strategic Communications: Writes, edits, and reviews high-profile executive communications, including speeches, congressional testimony, strategic white papers, and official correspondence for the Director, JIATF 401.
• Executive Preparation: Conducts exhaustive research to develop comprehensive executive summaries, read-ahead binders, and strategic talking points prior to engagements, briefs, and interagency meetings.
• Issue Management: Monitors and analyzes emerging geopolitical events, legislative changes, and service policies; provides time-sensitive recommendations to the SIG Chief for the Director, JIATF 401, to shape strategic organizational responses.
• Cross-Functional Synchronization: Coordinates directly with the JIATF 401 J-Staff and Division Chiefs and other DoW internal or external agencies as directed to ensure a unified effort on the director's critical information requirements.
• Strategic Initiative Execution: Conduct short-notice, sensitive special projects from conception to completion, translating broad directors' intent into actionable staff guidance and measurable metrics.
• Vanguard Support: Support the director's intent as guided by the SIG Chief in working groups, synchronization meetings, and collaborative planning sessions to ensure alignment with institutional goals.
Basic Qualifications
• 20 or more years of related work experience
• Master’s degree
• Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI
• 5 or more years of senior-level staff experience; Service, Joint, and/or OSD staff
Preferred Qualifications
• Expertise in National Security, Policy, and Strategy
• U.S. Legislative Experience
• CATMS & ETMS2 / Task Management Experience
