Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting the successful delivery of commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects across Ontario. This role partners closely with Project Managers, end-users, sales teams, prime contractors, consultants, authorities having jurisdiction, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and field teams to manage scope, schedules, budgets, safety, quality, permitting, documentation, change management, and project close-out. The role requires strong practical knowledge of Ontario local codes, municipal permit processes, inspections, and CCDC contract requirements, with the judgment to identify risks early and keep projects moving from inception through completion.
Key Responsibilities- The Project Engineer is assisting Project Managers with the installation of commercial HVAC equipment within various vertical markets, positively representing the company in all client and architect/engineer interactions.
- Work with end-users, sales staff, and prime contractors to ensure a clear understanding of project scope and deliverables.
- The Project Engineer helps oversee and communicate project progression from inception to completion, including design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation.
- Develops a comprehensive project plan to meet schedules and budgets. Conducts Work in Progress meetings.
- Expected to develop working knowledge with Building Automation Systems (BAS) systems; Carrier i-Vu knowledge.
- Understands and follows all published Ontario codes, standards, and unique project specifications including CCDC 2 (Canadian Construction Document Committee).
- Conveys a sense of professionalism, fairness, and concern for customers, labor, and management.
- Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Accurately forecast revenue each month by reviewing each project to estimate the value of work completed each month correctly.
- Execute all major functions required for project management, including project initiation, project planning, project execution, project monitoring, and project close-out.
- Manage the Change Order process, assuring that scope creep does not occur.
- Assure that all projects will be managed to or exceed the percentage of booked project margin.
- Assure that job safety is priority on every project.
Required Qualifications- Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, project management, building systems, mechanical/electrical technology.
- 5+ years of experience in project management in one of the following fields: engineering, commercial HVAC, building construction.
- 3+ years experience in reading blueprints, structural drawings and understanding complex building architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
- PMP certification is required.
- Must have a valid Ontario class "G" drivers license, for site visits and field inspections.
Preferred Qualifications (assets)
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Project Engineering designation (is nice to have).
- Experience with MS-Project Planner or Cora.
- Salesforce, SAP and or related CRM/ERP systems
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize among assignments with a strong adherence to deadlines.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, both with internal and external customers.

Pay RangeThe expected base salary range for this role is between $89,500.00 CAD - $139,500.00 CAD annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, as well as possible retirement contributions.
Other CompensationThis role may also provide the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation in the form of annual bonus, sales bonus, sales commission or local incentive. If the role provides for an opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation, it will be based on measurable performance factors which may include company performance, individual performance or other key performance indicators.
