OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the roadmap for affinity-enabled consumables that make complex biomolecule capture, sample preparation, and purification more selective, reproducible, and scalable for the development of breakthrough biologics and genetic medicines.
This role, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Product Management, is intended for a commercially minded product leader with strong technical fluency in biopharmaceutical workflows. The successful candidate will understand the needs of pharmaceutical, biotech, CDMO, academic, and analytical laboratory customers working across proteins, peptides, biologics, and emerging genetic medicine modalities. They will translate customer problems into product requirements, business cases, differentiated positioning, and successful product launches. The candidate should have a passion for creating and sharing scientific content, ranging from brochures and infographics to webinars and tradeshow presentations. This product management position is a highly-visible, global role and a successful candidate will be encouraged engage with leading scientific and industry communities and help our organization align to serving the biopharmaceutical industry.
The role is global, highly cross-functional, and will partner closely with R&D, engineering, scientific applications, commercial teams, field marketing, operations, and external customers.
Responsibilities- Define market opportunities, customer segments, use cases, and unmet needs across biopharma discovery, development, bioanalysis, analytical characterization, and purification workflows.
- Develop market requirements, product requirements, target product profiles, and business cases for new affinity consumables, product enhancements, and portfolio expansion opportunities.
- Partner with R&D, scientific applications, and external collaborators to translate customer needs into differentiated product concepts and proof points.
- Liaise and manage important alpha and beta testing collaborations
- Develop clear value propositions, personas, launch messaging, and workflow positioning for key customer segments.
- Lead go-to-market planning for new products including launch strategy, training, demand generation input, and field deployment.
- Represent the company by visiting customers and attending conferences to present technical information and solicit feedback on our products
- Work with commercial and enablement teams to identify adoption barriers, collect customer feedback, monitor competitive activity, and refine product strategy.
- Build and maintain competitive intelligence for affinity sample preparation, magnetic bead-based workflows, affinity chromatography media, purification consumables, and adjacent technologies.
- Collaborate with market segment teams to connect affinity consumables to broader Waters solutions across LC, LC-MS, bioseparations, sample preparation, and purification workflows.
- Engage with key opinion leaders, strategic customers, and internal stakeholders to validate product direction and strengthen market evidence.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, or a related scientific field. MBA or advanced scientific degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in product management, product marketing, business development, applications, or commercial strategy within life sciences, analytical chemistry, bioprocessing, or biopharmaceutical tools.
- Experience with one or more of the following strongly preferred: affinity chromatography, chromatography consumables, sample preparation, magnetic beads, immunocapture, purification media, LC-MS workflows, biologics characterization, or bioprocess purification.
- Demonstrated ability to define product strategy, build business cases, develop customer requirements, and influence new product development priorities.
- Proven track record launching or commercializing scientific products, workflows, consumables, reagents, instruments, or related life science technologies.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and biotech customer workflows, buying processes, and adoption barriers.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority and drive decisions across technical, commercial, and operational stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear customer value.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
