As a Technical Program Expert you will serve as the Digitization Lead, spearheading the transformation of data management into discoverable digital assets for the newly formed Digitization Center of Excellence (DCoE). In this highly visible hybrid role of product ownership, platform leadership, and data architecture you will develop a master plan that guides how the organization builds and uses its data, software, hardware, and networks for seamless product delivery. It connects business goals with technology tools in alignment with global initiatives and guidelines. Your daily impact involves solving complex technical and operational challenges to unify siloed imaging and data systems through partnering with local and global cross0functional stakeholders. You will establish new capabilities, benchmark technical excellence, and unlock exponential value and operational efficiency for our scientific and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
Vision & Roadmap Execution: Act as the Product Owner for the DCoE, translating business strategy into the Development technology portfolio and maintaining full accountability for the DCoE roadmap, prioritization, and value realization.
Technical Implementation & Innovation: Identify and solve unique technical challenges and data flow within the pathology lab portfolio, overseeing the integration of scanning operations with Image Viewers, file transfer and metadata/graph services into a robust end0to0end platform. Champion innovation in workflows, data models, and automation that increase throughput and reusability of our digital assets.
Governance & Stakeholder Management: Chair or co-chair DCoE governance and operations forums, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with cross-functional leaders across Pathology, Roche Digital Technologies (RDT), Data Science, and Quality Assurance. Ensure alignment between scanning labs and assay/IHC/scientific teams through clear service interfaces and Service Level Agreements, while maintaining strong partnerships with key business partners (i.e. IT Quality, etc).
Operational Excellence & Quality: Establish and monitor continuous improvement initiatives and operational metrics to ensure quality, balancing schedule and budget to maximize business impact.
Program Scaling: Establish and scale the DCoE program, overseeing the transition from the Phase 1 pilot into a stabilized, high-throughput steady state, and eventually extending the architecture to additional global sites and functions.
Executive Representation:Regularly interact with executive management and the Steering Committee on the progress of the DCoE, which directly impacts larger organizational goals.

Who You Are:

You have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science,Information Systems, or Information Technology with 10+ years of experience; or a Master0s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology with 8+ years of experience; or a PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology with 6+ years of experience
You have a demonstrated ability to define how data is managed from collection (e.g., scanning and QC) through transformation, storage and consumption, setting the blueprint for how digital pathology data flows across the ecosystem.
You have a demonstrated level of understanding of how to manage data as a strategic resource, how it may be used in the development organization, including integration with automated workflows and AI/Analytics pipelines.
You have a demonstrated level of proficiency to engineer solutions for unique or unprecedented problems impacting the digital ecosystem and enterprise data architecture; comfortable working in ambiguous, evolving environments and balancing pragmatic delivery with long-term DCoE architectural integrity.
You have demonstrated advanced program management skills with a strong capability to orchestrate large, cross-chapter enterprise deployments, manage continuous improvement backlogs, and define and deliver concrete ROIs from the DCoE platform.
You have demonstrated experience to lead influentially and work collaboratively across all levels of an organization, expertly navigating the needs of scientists, pathologists, RDT platform engineers, Regulatory specialists, and QA specialists aligning diverse stakeholders around a shared digital pathology vision.
You have strong communication and interpersonal skills to seamlessly bridge the gap between technical developers and scientific reviewers, and to present strategic roadmaps to governance boards and alliance partners.
You have demonstrated experience leading teams and driving change in complex matrixed organizations; ability to build and mentor a cross0functional team (scanning ops, platform/data, quality) through influence and manage change impacts as new digital workflows and tools are introduced.
Preferred:
You have a high level of familiarity with imaging, laboratory or biomedical data domains; including experience in digital pathology, histology or related fields
You have strong problem-solving, judgment and decision-making skills; you have the ability to think and work both tactically and strategically to meet financial and operational needs for Roche's business
You have strong time management and organizational skills in a dynamic, continually changing environment; you have the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, customer inquiries or complaints as well as communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, peers and individuals.
This is an onsite (hybrid) role based in Tucson, AZ.
Relocation benefits are not being offered for this role.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is $152,000 - $282,500 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
