OverviewWaters is seeking a
SeniorPrincipal Enterprise Architect to provide enterprise-wide architectural leadership during a pivotal period of transformation. This role is responsible for shaping Waters' long-term technology direction while playing a
critical leadership role in the integration of BD businesses, platforms, and data into the Waters ecosystem.
As a senior individual contributor with broad influence, the Principal Enterprise Architect will operate at the intersection of business strategy and technology execution-guiding complex architectural decisions, enabling large-scale integration programs, and ensuring that near-term transformation choices support long-term scalability, resilience, and value creation.
ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Architecture Leadership- Define, evolve, and govern Waters' enterprise architecture across business capabilities, applications, data, integration, cloud, infrastructure, and security.
- Translate business strategy into actionable target-state architectures and multi-year roadmaps.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology leaders on complex trade-offs involving cost, speed, risk, and scalability.
- Establish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and reference architectures to drive consistency and reuse across the enterprise.
BD Integration Leadership- Act as the enterprise architecture authority for the BD Integration program, ensuring alignment with Waters' strategic and technical direction.
- Guide architectural decisions across ERP, commercial platforms, data, integration layers, and infrastructure.
- Lead architectural input into master data strategy, system rationalization, integration patterns, and TSA exit planning.
- Ensure reuse of Waters' platforms, patterns, and standards while avoiding unnecessary duplication of legacy BD environments.
- Provide architectural governance across cross-functional workstreams, managing dependencies, sequencing, and risk throughout the integration lifecycle.
Technology Strategy & Enablement- Evaluate emerging technologies and architectural patterns to support innovation, efficiency, and future growth.
- Develop and maintain enterprise-level architecture artifacts, including capability models, reference architectures, and standards repositories.
- Mentor and influence architects, engineers, and technical leaders, raising architectural maturity across the organization.
- Enable faster, higher-quality decision-making by bringing structure, clarity, and enterprise perspective to complex initiatives.
QualificationsEducation- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience- 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or related senior technical leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture for large-scale, enterprise transformation or integration initiatives
- Proven track record operating as a senior individual contributor, influencing strategy and outcomes without direct line management
- Experience working within complex, global, matrixed organizations
- Hands-on experience with enterprise platforms such as ERP, data, integration, and cloud technologies in a regulated or large-enterprise environment
