Full Job Description
Davidson is seeking a Sr. Principal Configuration Analyst (Lead) in Boulder, Colorado.

The Sr. Principal Configuration Analyst (Lead) will anchor the integrity, governance, and traceability of our baseline assets. You will step into a highly mature development environment that relies on a structured, manual build process. Your immediate mission is dual-focused: maintain rigorous configuration control over our existing ecosystem while serving as the strategic mentor and guide to our newly formed DevSecOps team as they transition us toward automated CI/CD pipelines.

Job Responsibilities:

SCM Governance & Control (Current State)
  • Enforce Baselines: Establish, maintain, and audit software configuration baselines across all development streams. Ensure all releases adhere to program build requirements, comply with quality and hardware configurations, document operating parameters, and remain logistically sustainable.
  • Manage Repositories: Oversee Bitbucket permissions, branching strategies (Gitflow/trunk-based), and merge controls.
  • Artifact Management: Govern the storage, versioning, and retention policies of binaries within Nexus.
  • Traceability & Documentation: Ensure every code/configuration change is traceable. Develop program-wide configuration standards and review documentation artifacts to ensure CM processes are properly implemented.
  • Defect Review Board (DRB): Serve as DRB administrator and facilitator. Review, scribe, manage, report, and facilitate multiple weekly meetings with sustainment and software teams while maintaining all development, release, and change records.

DevSecOps Strategy & Automation (Future State)
  • DevSecOps Advisory: Act as the embedded SCM expert guiding the team on configuration best practices and contributing to new deployment principles.
  • Pipeline Design: Partner with DevSecOps architects to securely translate current manual build steps into automated pipelines.
  • Risk & Compliance: Ensure that as automation is introduced, strict baseline compliance, security parameters, and auditing standards are not compromised.
  • Environment Alignment: Guide the standardization and alignment of development, staging, and production environments.

Job Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience; a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience; or a PhD with 4 years of related experience.
  • Technical Ecosystem: Robust experience working in a Linux environment using Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Nexus.
  • Configuration Control: Proven experience analyzing proposed product design changes, coordinating modification records, and creating configured builds for test and delivery to maintain baseline control.
  • Version Control: Expert-level command of Git, including complex branching, merging, and conflict resolution.
  • Transition & Mentorship: Proven track record of operating in manual build environments while successfully guiding a team toward CI/CD automation with respect for SCM requirements.
  • Communication & Detail: Ability to express technical information clearly at different organizational levels with a meticulous, gatekeeper mindset toward product integrity.

Desired Competencies:
  • Experience with ClearCase and GitFlow.
  • Experience working with Docker containers.
  • Knowledge of and fluency in automation tool development.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Clearance:
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
