Job Summary The Senior Revenue Offshore Accountant role is to ensure that all production, revenues, and post-production expenses are recorded accurately and timely, and in accordance with marketing, lease, and other governing agreements. The successful candidate will oversee the accounting processes of oil and condensate transactions associated with US offshore properties, monthly oil revenue accrual, transportation, and inventory journal entries, and assist with additional tasks such as non-operated payment bookings, audit requests, or others as requested.
The candidate should demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, make process improvements, and maintain a solid control environment. This person should be also able to thrive in a team environment as well as focus on individual tasks.
While the role has no direct authority over day-to-day direction of the department or project, the person is highly encouraged to suggest desirable changes to the team and other departments that would generate better results.
This role will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely, as business needs allow.
Responsibilities - Manage oil and condensate revenue transactions and ensure proper allocation back to leases in Gulf of America
- Perform monthly oil revenue accrual, transportation, and inventory journal entries
- Provide field sales allocation to relevant pipelines and offshore producers
- Process prior period adjustments under reasonable timeline after receiving substantive revised information
- Perform account reconciliation research
- Understand oil midstream contracts including sales pricing, firm obligations, deficiencies, transportation, gathering, processing arrangements, escalations, etc.
- Ensure all accounting is in accordance with SOX compliance
- Work on audit supports, non-operated payment bookings, and ad hoc requests as needed
- Utilize technology to drive process improvements and efficiencies
Qualifications/Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 10 years' experience in exploration & production (E&P) or midstream accounting with 4 years' experience in E&P revenue accounting
- Proficient with accounting of take in-kind arrangements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate a continual improvement and team mindset
Desired/Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in accounting or finance with minimum 10 years' experience in exploration & production or midstream accounting with 4 years' experience in E&P accounting.
- SAP system experience with focus in PRA module
- Familiar with E&P offshore operations
- Affinity for technologies, such as Power Automate and Power BI, to support deliverables
- Knowledgeable in offshore unit agreements
- Allegro or equivalent marketing system experience
- Prior experience participating with working interest partner audits
- Exceptional understanding of marketing and commercial contracts
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.
