Responsibilities
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the daily activities of the department.
• Provides work leadership and serves as a technical resource to staff; assures staff's proficiency in all procedures.
• Ensures quality service and patient care in the department.
• Performs duties of an MRI Technologist.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing.
• Frequent: sitting, walking, stooping/bending, speaking, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Occasional: standing, kneeling, squatting, twisting body, lift weight of 50 pounds; pushing/pulling weight up to 50 pounds; carrying weight of 25 pounds up to 50 pounds.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions; cold temperatures due to the air conditioning.
• Subjected to noise/vibration from film processors.
• Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, mechanical/electrical units, chemicals and radiation.
• Work environment is fast paced and high stressed due to patient census.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) or by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
• General knowledge of computers, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Current BLS certification.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Three (3) years recent experience as a MRI Technologist.
• Prior leadership experience preferred.
• Experience to demonstrate:
o Knowledge of MRI safety operations and capabilities.
o Knowledge of quality assurance activities as applied in MRI imaging.
