A Senior Manufacturing Supervisor leads daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are met. This role typically oversees frontline manufacturing teams, drives process improvements, monitors performance metrics, supports employee development, and partners with cross-functional groups such as quality, engineering, supply chain, and maintenance to resolve issues and improve efficiency. My knowledge is based on general understanding and is my best guess, but a typical Sr. Manufacturing Supervisor is expected to combine strong people leadership with operational excellence to maintain compliant, efficient, and high-performing manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
  • Management Skills: Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Management of Personnel Resources, Collaboration and Productivity Software, Effective Communication Skills.
  • Functional Skills: Machining and Manufacturing Technologies, Proficient computer skills, Data Science and Analysis, Lean Manufacturing and continued improvement, Managing Quality.
  • Consistently drives strong engagement, ethics, and safety results.
  • Serves as a role model for Medtronic values and leadership behaviors.
  • Aligns daily execution with site and business strategy.
  • Leads cross-functional initiatives that improve service, quality, and productivity.

  • Leads cross-training and certification initiatives to increase workforce flexibility.
  • Uses skill matrices to identify capability gaps and staffing risks.
  • Develops contingency plans to support absenteeism, turnover, and production ramp-ups.


Required Knowledge and Experience: Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires 3+ years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice to Have
  • Engineering Degree
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, process parameters, machine capability, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of key machining metrics such as OEE, Scrap, FTQ, Utilization, and Setup Reduction.
  • Ability to challenge and coach engineers, technicians, and supervisors on technical and operational issues.
  • Operational Leadership knowledge

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. a7 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
