Thermal constraints limit AI infrastructure, semiconductor equipment, power electronics, and defense systems. JCI removes those constraints. Enabled by the Stack Forging™ process, JCI produces high-performance thermal components and cooling loop solutions - purpose-built for direct integration into AI, HPC, and mission-critical systems. JCI has built the industry's leading thermal management platform for the applications that demand it most.
As a Builder on the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions team at Johnson Controls, you'll join a team of sleeve-rollers who set a high bar for themselves and their co-workers. We foster a collaborative culture with no silos, where everyone is encouraged to think out loud. If you are passionate about your craft and don't give up until you've found a way, you will make an ideal Builder!

What You'll Do
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing, you will be responsible for defining and building the standards, documentation, and structure required to transition machines from prototype to scalable production-enabling consistent builds by internal teams and contract manufacturers with minimal reliance on tribal knowledge. You will report to the Sr. Manager of the Manufacturing Operations team and lead a cross-functional program team dedicated to scaling up the manufacturing line for JCI Stack Forging's thermal management offerings.
Who You Are
You are a seasoned manufacturing professional and take pride in the quality and reliability of the systems you build. You are a detail-oriented, collaborative problem solver who can effectively bridge design engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain. You will play a critical role in driving repeatability, reducing variation, accelerating assembly, and improving quality as production scales. You are a high-ownership, "builder" mindset with the ability to move fast and make pragmatic tradeoffs. This position generally requires a commitment of 5 days onsite per week.

Responsibilities

• Work with design engineers to influence designs early on, driving DFM/DFA across all JCI Stack Forging manufacturing equipment.
• Create and maintain assembly drawings, exploded views and callouts.
• Create and contribute to 'design histories' documents for recording of key learnings, architectural selections, and process improvements.
• Build and own clean multi-level BOMs for all JCI Stack Forging manufacturing equipment, acting as a steward of the part numbering, naming, revisioning, and release standards.
• Develop clear, visual assembly instructions for:
• Parts and subassemblies
• Module and final system integration
• Installation and test procedures.
• Develop and own SOPs related to the commissioning and maintenance of JCI Stack Forging manufacturing equipment.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers to validate instructions on the production floor and continuously improve documentation based on feedback.
• Manage machine build projects including new machine builds, retrofits, and upgrades as necessary.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in capital equipment.
• Background in commissioning or productizing complex systems or capital equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD and PDM, including large assemblies, drawings, configurations and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong experience owning BOM structure, drawing standards, and assembly/work instructions from part to system level.
• Hands-on experience supporting early builds, machine bring-up, or production ramps

Preferred Skills
• Proven expertise with Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Proven ability to turn evolving process requirements and prototype designs into scalable, repeatable machines.
• Comfortable partnering closely with design and process engineers to rapidly incorporate changes into equipment design and documentation.
• Direct experience with metal additive manufacturing, robotics, or industrial automation.
• Experience in high-volume mass production environments (e.g., automotive, consumer electronics, semiconductors or high-power computing/data center).
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
• Proficiency with 3D software tools for design, inspection, or CAM.
