Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Manager of Supplier Quality Development (SQD) Magna Powertrain Ramos is responsible for the oversight and improvement of key performance metrics of Magna Powertrain’s Ramos´ supply base. Will lead the Ramos/Troy SQD Team; ensure compliance to related systems, work with internal customers and the supply base to ensure continuous improvement.


ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop effective partnerships with suppliers’ leadership and MPT functional leaders to improve supplier capability through supplier assessments, clear and concise communication, feedback and training.
2. Create / Deploy / Implement a continuous supplier improvement strategy
3. Introduce suppliers to the STA process to assure corrective action in place to improve past behavior.
4. Facilitates the development plans for process control, capability and sustainability at the supplier.
5. Responsible for execution of the APQP Process with suppliers. Ensure all APQP elements are completed to high standards to achieve Flawless Launches.
6. Assists in identifying, communicating and resolving early-stage supplier quality problems.
7. Support serial production supplier problem resolution to assure effective corrective and systematic actions are implemented
8. Guides supplier through tough situations through involvement and plan management
9. Track total supplier DMN and Warning to assure target of reduction YOY
10. Work with new and existing suppliers to ensure quality system implementation and continuous improvement. Tracks the improvement and initiates countermeasures if progress does not meet MPT expectations.
11. Coordinate prescribed assessments of potential new suppliers and provide a recommendation to the Quality and Purchasing group.
12. Play a key role in sourcing selection and the Sourcing Council Process. Ensure component level Technical Reviews are properly executed with potential suppliers.
13. Ensure proper approval and documentation practices are followed for any process, material or tooling change at suppliers.
14. Ensure suppliers provide thorough information to support development of new projects including PFMEAs, Process Control Plans, Process Capability Studies, Run[redacted] and Safe Launch Planning.
15. Review and ensure SQD Team remains within Departmental budget.
16. Oversee current and future work-load. Ensure the necessary level of resources are available within the Department.
17. Develops and executes long-term progressive strategy to ensure the Supplier Quality function becomes increasingly proactive in addressing supplier performance issues.
18. Practice and maintain integrity while following and upholding Magna’s Charter and Constitution.
19. Follow and uphold Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
20. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF).
21. Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.
22. Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
23. Health & Safety responsibilities:
o Understands and enforces Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures and rules.
o Involved in accident / incident investigation, reporting and corrective actions.
o Reviews safety incidents, memos, etc. with employees.
o Train new employees.
o Correct unsafe acts and conditions.
o Ensure use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
o Assess employee safety performance as part of performance appraisal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
1. A Bachelor’s Degree is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with an MBA, MS or other technical graduate degree is preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum 15 years of experience in Quality Assurance, including Quality Systems, Standards, Metrics, and Tools.
2. Minimum 8 years experience in a leadership role with a track-record of progression.
3. Demonstrated track record of effectively influencing and negotiating with all levels of an organization and leading effective change initiatives, supplier quality development, planning and training.
4. Automotive manufacturing experience required with a strong preference in Powertrain Systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office environment; 30 - 40% Travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
