Job Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Director Operations, Sr. Manager Production leads, coordinates and directs the manufacturing of all products and production at the local facility. Is responsible for meeting production schedules and for the coordination of related operations across three production areas: Compounding, Molding/Trimming, Finishing. In conjunction with Engineering develops efficient processes and improvements for the site. Part of the site SLT, this role is key in delivering the overall vision for the site, constantly initiating improvements to ensure processes meet present and future requirements for the site in terms of quality, HSE, growth, flexibility and cost improvement. Provides a high level of leadership for the production team and assures acquisition of best talent and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effective and efficient use of available resources to manufacture products that meet or exceed customer requirements for cost, quality, delivery and service.
  • Lead, coordinate and direct the manufacturing of all products and production at the site.
  • Utilize business systems and software tools to analyze reports on production capacity and requirements related to forecasted units by product and identify methods for improving productivity and reducing overall manufacturing costs via lean manufacturing and robust problem-solving teams.
  • Work with Department managers Compounding, Molding/Trimming and Finishing in planning and scheduling labor and equipment resources to meet production demands.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service, minimize scrap, and reduce manufacturing costs, including effective management and improvement of inventory.
  • Troubleshoot production processes to correct product issues and improve process control.
  • Coordinate modifications to production processes and create best in class processes with Engineering, Quality and other functional areas.
  • Motivate, develop and engage supervisors, team leads and team members to become self-directed and take ownership of their area.
  • Mange the teams' performance, conduct performance reviews, recruit team, put in place training and development plans together with Learning and Development, addressing any issues that arise in a timely manner.
  • Enforce all quality, safety and SOP procedures.
  • Report on monthly metrics, and ensure ongoing measurement identifying progress, issues and corrective action status and status of planned projects.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the annual budget as it relates to associated production areas.
  • Demonstrates the leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system and with respect to customer focus as outlined in the ISO9001/15378 standards.
  • Maintains the Sites Quality Management System in line with the relevant Standards and Regulations- ISO 14644-5.
  • Act in accordance with the company's Guiding Principles and adherence to the corporate Code of Conduct.
  • Compliance to all local site Environmental, Health and Safety regulations.
  • Compliance to all local site company policies, procedures and corporate policies.


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Manufacturing, Engineering or Applied Sciences required.


Work Experience

  • Minimum 10 years Experience in leadership and management at a senior level for 10+ years in a relevant or associated business environment required.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 7+ years' experience in a similar position within the manufacturing industry, preferably in rubber or pharmaceutical operations.
  • Sound know-how and experience in of manufacturing, process automation, business and shop floor systems to effectively manage operations.
  • Good knowledge of LEAN and 6 sigma manufacturing principles.
  • Experience working cGMP environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals and regulatory documentation.
  • Ability to prepare monthly progress reports and capital requests.
  • Ability to understand mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Self-motivated, result - and solution-oriented personality.
  • Ability to combine and apply modern process engineering and manufacturing concepts to meet complex tasks.
  • Well-developed communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills. With the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills (think outside the box).

Travel Requirements

10%: Up to 26 business days per year

Physical Requirements

Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
