Full Job Description

Job Description

General Motors is seeking a recognized technical and organizational leader to establish the strategy, methods, tools, and accountability required for seamless software-defined vehicle feature integration. This role will connect feature intent to physical implementation and vehicle-level operation across electrical architecture, networks, controllers, software, calibration, infrastructure, validation, and release evidence.

The Sr. Manager, Product Integration will build and advance an enterprise-quality integration system that makes feature dependencies traceable, enables progressive integration before full-vehicle availability, and identifies deterministic defects as far upstream as possible. The role will influence engineering teams across organizational boundaries. Preferred applicants will have a deep technical experience in SDV and integration best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly lead the product integration team

  • Define and evolve the SDV product-integration strategy, operating model, methods, standards, and readiness criteria across vehicle programs.

  • Establish a feature-centered digital thread linking feature behavior and variants to hardware, wiring, HWIO, signals, services, controllers, software repositories, infrastructure dependencies, calibration, builds, vehicle configurations, test cases, logs, and integration evidence.

  • Create machine-readable feature and system models that connect functional behavior, data flow, network paths, physical interfaces, software implementation, degraded behavior, and variant-specific content. This will be used to build automation testing at a CCU level.

  • Drive cross-stack dependency identification across electrical architecture, software, cybersecurity, identity and authorization, service discovery, network management, flash programming, deployment, calibration, diagnostics, logging, observability, time synchronization, and configuration management.

  • Define progressive integration and validation strategies spanning source/component analysis, controller builds, virtual subsystems, hardware subsystems, multi-controller integration, full-vehicle validation, and release readiness.

  • Establish bench-automation and subsystem-surrogate strategies, including missing-controller simulation, sensor and actuator surrogates, rest-bus simulation, controlled fault injection, stub detection, automated bench configuration, reusable feature test environments, and progressive replacement with production content. This should include simulation and test case development as well as a consolidated reporting structure.

  • Develop automated analysis that traces signal producers and consumers, validates services and calibrations, compares HWIO usage with electrical definitions, detects stubbed or bypassed behavior, checks variant compatibility, and compares source intent with compiled-build behavior.

  • Define CI/CD quality gates, integration evidence, entry and exit criteria, promotion criteria, failure ownership, escalation paths, and feedback loops into requirements, design, code, calibration, and standard work.

  • Lead feature-level root-cause analysis and triage across organizational boundaries, translating operational evidence into actionable improvements for engineering products, tools, and processes.

  • Build alignment among senior technical leaders and partner organizations, resolve conflicting assumptions, and communicate risks, decisions, and recommendations with clarity and candor.

Required qualifications

  • Extensive theoretical and practical expertise in complex vehicle electrical, embedded software, systems, or software-defined vehicle integration.

  • Demonstrated ability to connect hardware, networks, controllers, software, calibration, infrastructure, validation, and vehicle-level behavior into an end-to-end technical view.

  • Experience solving unique, multidimensional, and ambiguous problems with limited information through independent judgment and long-term perspective.

  • Proven ability to establish technical strategy, standards, methods, and operating models that influence multiple teams, programs, or functional areas.

  • Experience leading cross-functional integration, release-readiness, root-cause, or quality-improvement initiatives with measurable business or product impact.

  • Strong understanding of vehicle communication and integration concepts, including CAN, LIN, SENT, Ethernet, signals, services, HWIO, ARXML, software builds, calibration, and configuration or variant content.

  • Ability to translate complex technical relationships into traceable models, automated checks, quality gates, and repeatable engineering practices.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills across technical and organizational boundaries.

  • Demonstrated commitment to GM Values and Behaviors, including integrity, customer focus, innovation, inclusion, teamwork, accountability, urgency, and speaking fearlessly.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with SDV architecture, multi-controller feature integration, AUTOSAR or comparable embedded software platforms, and vehicle-level software release processes.

  • Experience building digital-thread, systems-engineering, model-based, CI/CD, simulation, bench-automation, or engineering-data solutions.

  • Experience analyzing source code, compiled controller content, calibration dependencies, network/service definitions, and operational logs.

  • Experience defining integration evidence and readiness criteria for virtual, bench, subsystem, vehicle, and release-candidate environments.

  • Experience influencing enterprise standards or product-development practices across multiple vehicle programs.

  • Experience leading technical communities, mentoring senior engineers, or managing teams of engineers and technical leaders.
