Purpose

The Sr. Manager - IT Applications HRIS is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, and continuous optimization of enterprise HR technology platforms, with primary accountability for Workday HCM and related systems. This role partners with HR, IT, Finance, and business leadership to define technology roadmaps, lead enterprise-scale implementations and enhancements, ensure data integrity and compliance, drive process transformation, and deliver workforce analytics. The position provides leadership to teams while ensuring the HR technology ecosystem supports organizational growth, operational excellence, and exceptional employee experience.

This position assists the Director or Vice President by leading, guiding, and performing a broad scope of functions spanning enterprise HR technology platforms, including Workday HCM and related applications. Coordinates across multiple teams to provide a consistent message. Makes complex, well-thought-out recommendations while handling multifaceted issues. Manages full product lifecycle inception/charter to sunset; oversees growth of multiple, related applications while maintaining the quality of the product, and assumes full accountability for applications.

Responsible for ensuring all enterprise-wide standards are met through the software life cycle process, including documentation of requirements, technical documentation and handoff to operational support.

Maintain awareness of emerging trends, technologies and standards. Ensure colleague professional development and maintenance of skills needed to perform.

Essential Functions

Project Leadership

  • Lead enterprise HR technology project initiatives, including Workday implementations, upgrades, acquisitions, integrations, and global rollouts.
  • Direct testing, change management, release management, and user acceptance activities.
  • Ensure delivery of projects on time, within scope, and aligned to business value.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and leadership to RHM and Market Leaders in developing strategies and in the achievement of performance goals.
  • Manage and assign leader resources to project and support initiatives based upon priority within the system.
  • May coordinate initiatives across multiple teams for optimal user experience and in support of organizational outcomes.
  • Incorporates best practice work flows into user experience.
  • Manage and ensure all project implementations and deliverables are in accordance with PMO methodology.

Direction and Growth

  • Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and business leaders to prioritize investments and enhancements.
  • Oversee configuration, optimization, and support of modules such as Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, and Payroll.
  • Establish standards for system architecture, configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Provides leadership and direction to managers, architects, application consultants, and senior analysts responsible for enterprise HR technology solutions.
  • Develop training and skill development plans to provide managers, team leaders and staff expertise in programming, technical and business analysis skills. Responsible for maximizing cross-training opportunities to utilize staff most efficiently.

Strategic Support & Accountability

  • Advise on vendor/contract centralizing strategy, optimize spend, and provides input to vendor negotiations.
  • Provide guidance for the long-term roadmap for enterprise HR technology platforms, including Workday HCM and related applications.
  • Collaborate in enterprise-wide strategy development and deployment of HR functional area priorities and initiatives.
  • Responsible for supporting state and regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities.
  • Function as communication liaison between operational leaders and functional leaders.
  • Advise staff on standards, policies, and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods.
  • Responsible for the definitions and/or approvals of specifications.

Operational Delivery

  • Ensure data integrity, security, governance, and regulatory compliance across all HR technology platforms.
  • Oversee all knowledge transfer, documentation and transition of project work to operations.
  • Monitor and approve enhancement requests and all support work orders and requests for services outside of basic support services.
  • Lead Workday release evaluations, testing, deployment planning, and adoption of new functionality.
  • Provide oversight of integrations between Workday and enterprise applications including ERP, payroll, identity management, benefits, and third-party vendor solutions.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal, state & local laws/regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of conduct, as well as other policies & procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical & professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor6s degree and five (5) to eight (8) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or related work experience
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of information systems, including application software architecture, with interrelationships, and basic knowledge of hardware architecture and operating environment
  • Three (3) or more years6 progressive management experience in IT or healthcare. Leadership experience with consulting and/or programming staff within a health care-related environment is preferred. Significant health care background includes business functions related to appropriate applications. Preference given to multi-facility environment.
  • Extensive project management experience and ability to apply appropriate project management methodology
  • Five to seven (5 or 7) years minimum experience performing IT support responsibilities
  • Must possess strong project facilitation skills and ability to lead meetings with diverse member interests
