Responsibilities

Summary:

As Senior Data Engineering Manager, you will manage multiple teams that use data engineering capabilities to transform raw data into useful data systems. You and your teams will create algorithms to align data systems with business goals. The incumbent will ensure teams budgets, performance goals, deadlines, and project schedules are established and met.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple teams that use data engineering capabilities to transform raw data into useful data systems.
  • Work on complex problems and develop solutions requiring expert level proficiency
  • Ensure teams budgets, performance goals, deadlines, and project schedules are established and met
  • Analyze and organize raw data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements
  • Build and maintain data systems and pipelines to support increases in data volume and complexity
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Contribute towards the development, construction, and maintenance of data models within data warehouses using dimensional modeling
  • Conduct complex data analysis and report on analysis to end-users using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts
  • Interpret trends and patterns
  • Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
  • Program and maintain reports, dashboards, data generators and other end-user information portals or resources
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition
  • Develop analytical tools and programs to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues.
  • Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models in order to increase data accessibility and foster data driven decision making in the organization
  • Understand the business strategy and how the work of your multiple teams contribute to company OKRs
  • As a people manager, provide coaching, evaluate performance, and provide training to direct reports
  • May include other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements:Bachelors degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Statistics, or similar field

Minimum Experience required: 6+ years experience in leadership in relevant field

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of cloud data platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience building data lakes in the cloud
  • Knowledge of Snowflake and Looker
  • Familiarity with several modern data stack tools, such as Airflow, DBT, data catalog, and Terraform
  • Ability to apply software engineering best practices to data, including CICD, unit testing, version control, monitoring, etc.
  • Experience in writing code in Java and Python
  • Highly technical and analytical skills
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge in algorithms and statistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills in formulating hypotheses, interpreting results
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to anticipate problems and opportunities and the initiative to pursue solutions.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to handle high levels of ambiguity
  • Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts and output to non-experts in both a written and verbal manner

This role pays between $148kto $185, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.
