Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Manager / Senior Manager of Cost Accounting & Inventory Control to lead critical financial processes supporting our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for overseeing $150M-$400M in inventory, driving accuracy in costing and controls, and delivering actionable insights on margins and variances.

You will play a key role in month-end close, forecasting, and operational decision support, while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership. This position also leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy, strengthen controls, and streamline processes.

This role includes management of a professional-level direct report and offers strong visibility across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Cost Accounting Oversight
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls across inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Lead the annual standard cost roll process across the organization
  • Oversee cycle count programs and ensure compliance with inventory control requirements
  • Partner with Operations to plan and execute physical inventory counts

Financial Close & Analysis
  • Support and review month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Analyze gross margins, cost variances (PPV, work order variances, scrap), and provide insights to drive performance
  • Perform inventory-related analyses, including excess & obsolete (E&O) reserves and warranty reserves
  • Conduct flux analysis and provide clear explanations of financial results

Business Partnership
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain to resolve issues related to production, receiving, and shipping
  • Ensure accuracy of consigned inventory balances
  • Support planning and forecasting processes related to COGS and inventory

Process Improvement & Systems
  • Identify and drive process improvements to enhance cost accuracy, reporting efficiency, and internal controls
  • Partner with IT to implement system enhancements and automation opportunities

Leadership
  • Manage and develop one or more direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and engagement
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to cross-functional partners

Additional Responsibilities
  • Support ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting or manufacturing finance
  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory controls, and manufacturing operations
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
  • Advanced Excel skills and highly proficient in other MS Office applications
