Full Job Description
The Senior Manager, Transportation is responsible for managing our Managed Transportation Partner and all forms of transportation company wide, this includes, truck tankers, rail tankers and over the road transportation, has fiscal responsibility for those activities, will take a strategic leadership approach, will be accountable for creating plans to develop and integrate the capabilities of the organization, enhance the performance of the transportation department as it pertains to the movement of incoming materials and outgoing products.

Essential Functions
  • Manages all activities and functions within the Transportation area of responsibility including activities performed by our Managed Transportation Partner
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local requirements
  • Effectively monitors and manages all transportation requests and ensures that the daily schedules are met for transporting finished goods via the best mode of transportation (I.e.: Truck tankers, rail car tankers etc.)
  • Participates with Procurement to negotiate all freight rates with commercial transportation vendors
  • Analyzes all transportation activity and financial impact
  • Develop and implement strategies for increased efficiency and cost savings
  • Oversee the supply and distribution of products throughout the companies Branch Networks, Distribution Hubs and the Indianapolis Re-refinery
  • Interacts with other Departments as required
  • Functions within established guidelines of DOT compliance
  • Coordinates logistics requirements with other facilities
  • Adheres to established schedules and deadlines
  • Promotes a SAFE work environment throughout the organization


Education & Essential Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience in transportation or similar industry OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 10 plus years of experience in transportation or similar industry.
  • Experience analyzing transportation trends, transportation systems operations and expense control efforts
  • Experience working with DOT compliance requirements
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing strategic initiatives to address the problem
  • Experience managing projects
  • Experience utilizing change management skills
  • Experience building, leading, and maintaining a high-performing, cross-functional team
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or similar field of study

While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works indoors and may be required to sit for long periods. Individuals will be required to talk, hear, see and often reach with hands, stand, and walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Noise level of the environment is generally quiet.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $130,000.00, and includes benefits such as the following:
