Position Summary
DuPont is seeking a skilled Sr. Maintenance Planner- HVAC to support maintenance and reliability operations at the Experimental Station research campus in Wilmington, Delaware.
This position is responsible for development and continuous improvement of comprehensive maintenance work plans that enable safe, efficient, and reliable execution of facility and infrastructure maintenance activities. The Maintenance Planner applies independent judgment to define work scope, determine planning requirements, identify risks, and establish the resources necessary for successful, safe, efficient, and compliant execution.
This role is accountable for all pre-execution planning activities, ensuring work packages are fully developed, including detailed scope and process of work, identification of required resources and materials, and ensures that all prerequisites are in place prior to releasing jobs to the scheduler. The Sr. Maintenance Planner serves as a key contributor to maintenance governance, asset reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives across a complex technical environment and is required to work cross functionally with stakeholders including Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Site Tenants to drive effective work management and reliable asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
34 Develop complete maintenance work packages including task sequences, labor requirements, materials, tools, permits, and safety requirements.
34 Conduct field assessments and technical reviews to define and validate work scope and execution readiness.
34 Apply professional judgment to determine the appropriate planning strategy and level of detail required for maintenance activities.
34 Ensure planned work complies with site safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
34 Define material, equipment, contractor, and service requirements necessary for successful execution.
34 Improve maintenance master data, job plans, equipment records, and technical documentation within SAP and related systems.
34 Analyze planning performance and improve maintenance effectiveness, reliability, and work management practices.
34 Participate in operational excellence, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
34 Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, procurement, and operations stakeholders to improve planning quality and execution outcomes
34 Create and maintain standardized job plans to support planning consistency and continuous improvement
34 Capture feedback from execution in SAP to improve future planning accuracy and efficiency.
34 Support and enhance the site Work Management Process
Required Qualifications
34 High school diploma or GED equivalent.
34 HVAC journeyperson certification or equivalent work experience (5+years)
34 Ability to obtain State HVACR License within one year
34 Minimum of 1 year of experience using SAP or similar maintenance programs, Expertise in SAP with 3+years of user experience preferred
34 Demonstrable knowledge of steam, chilled water, HVAC systems, and associated equipment, including air handlers, motors, heat exchangers, belts, sheaves, and control valves.
34 Knowledge of equipment hazards, failure modes, and the complexity of various maintenance restoration techniques; to effectively build the necessary time, skills, tools, materials, activities and sequence required to execute the scope of work.
34 Ability to translate written repair procedures into SAP task lists or Work Orders and Shop papers (job packages) to facilitate effective scheduling
34 Ability to interpret drawings, technical manuals, drawings, and vendor literature to create quality work order structure (planning) and create sketches for communication to mechanics as part of the work execution package
34 Demonstrable computer proficiency, including Office 365
34 Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
34 Knowledge of Wilmington Area Standards, as applied to work performed by the maintenance team is preferred.
SAP Experience
SAP experience for this role means the ability to use the maintenance management system to plan, document, track, manage, and update maintenance work within SAP, including, at a minimum, to be able to:
34 Create, review, and update work orders.
34 Build and maintain job plans and task lists.
34 Review and update equipment and asset records.
34 Check materials, parts, BOMs, and inventory availability.
34 Track preventive maintenance plans.
