Position Overview

International of Alabama is seeking a 2nd shift Senior Lead Controls Engineer to interface with fellow engineers, maintenance and production staff to support production on our T14 Transmission Assembly Line. Responsibilities include day-to-day production support, process improvements, design and implementation of controls systems, network, and power distribution for current assembly lines.

Hours:

Monday - Thursday: 7:30PM- 6PM

(Training will take place on 1st shift)

** This role will support production and may need to cover production recovery times including Fridays and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes programs and solutions for increasing uptime and for equipment problems that affect the manufacturing process.
  • Provide cross functional troubleshooting support to production lines.
  • Design, program, and implement control systems for industrial automation projects
  • Develop and modify Siemens PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems
  • Diagnose and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for system designs and updates
  • Evaluates, selects, and orders equipment that is most appropriate and cost effective for the manufacture of company products.
  • Oversees the development, installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintains current records on equipment manufacturers' technical notices, upgrades and safety issues.
  • Studies equipment performance and reliability.
  • Provides technical support to the manufacturing equipment repair and process engineering organizations.
  • May instruct, coach, or provide informal guidance to other professionals or colleagues with less experience


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 years of lead experience

  • Master's degree and at least 3 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 years of lead experience

OR
  • At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience
  • At least 1 years of lead experience

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC programming
  • Experience working with HMI and/or SCADA platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Solid communication skills and ability to work across teams
  • Experience with vision systems (Fanuc IRVision, Keyence, and Cognex etc)
  • Experience with setting up and modifying SQL databases
  • MES (manufacturing execution systems) controls is a plus
  • Experience with AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles)
  • Experience designing and installing medium and low voltage power distribution systems
  • Willing to travel internationally
