Full Job Description
The Senior Imaging Research Specialist serves as a key contributor to the Quantitative Imaging Analysis Core, supporting advanced imaging analytics, research initiatives, and operational workflows. The Senior Imaging Research Specialist collaborates with faculty, investigators, physicians, and staff to deliver high-quality quantitative imaging data and solutions. The Senior Imaging Research Specialist also provides leadership in workflow development, process improvement, and imaging analysis activities that support institutional research objectives at UT MD Anderson.

The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree or higher in a related field, experience supporting imaging aspects of clinical trials, and familiarity with oncology image-based tumor response criteria. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and quantitative imaging skills within a medical imaging or medical sciences environment.

Responsibilities

Quantitative Imaging Analysis & Research Support
• Assess and collect quantitative imaging data for research and clinical initiatives
• View lesions and determine baseline and follow-up measurements
• Evaluate metastatic disease, tumor and lesion size, and anatomical location
• Provide quantitative imaging analytics support to investigators across the institution
• Collaborate on research projects with institutional faculty and staff

Leadership & Workflow Management
• Function as the Team Lead for the Quantitative Imaging Analysis Core within the Division of Diagnostic Imaging
• Partner with staff and faculty leadership to develop standard workflows and streamline operational processes
• Support business operations of QIAC through coordination and workflow oversight
• Schedule and reassign reports as needed to maintain operational efficiency

Technology, Innovation & Continuous Improvement
• Remain current on advances in imaging technology and procedures through internal and external training programs and required in-services
• Perform special projects related to quantitative imaging initiatives and professional development
• Support implementation of new protocol initiatives and imaging techniques
• Identify future operational and technology needs with management personnel
• Design and program systems that improve workflow processes and operational efficiency

Collaboration & Problem Resolution
• Collaborate proactively with faculty and staff across multiple departments to resolve issues and identify solutions
• Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve results-focused outcomes
• Work with physicians to address discrepancies related to imaging findings
• Foster cross-functional collaboration in support of institutional objectives

Systems Integration & Testing
• Support further integration with institutional electronic health record systems and proprietary platforms
• Conduct user acceptance testing for new systems, enhancements, and workflow solutions
• Evaluate system functionality and support implementation of process improvements
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Medical Imaging or related field.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 3 years Medical imaging or medical sciences experience.
  • Preferred: 1 year With imaging aspects of clinical trials; familiarity with oncology image-based tumor response criteria.
