Job Requirements

Purpose:

The job holders will be the champions for Alkegen Industrial solutions products, managing a multidisciplined team of engineers to promote, support the technical sale cycle, advising our customers through technical excellence of our products, applications, certification and regulatory demands. This is a role our customers rely on and a crucial position in the sales and support process.

Preferably located in the US or mainland EU.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the team in the technical vertical:
    • Sr. Group Vertical Leader, Insulation; manages the fiber and fiber forms and vacuform application engineering teams
    • Group Vertical Leader, Refractories; manages the hard refractory, Rapidfire and Thermbond application engineering teams
    • Group Vertical Leader, Construction; manages the high efficiency filtration, fire protection, Geosynthetics and advanced material application engineering teams
  • Manage the vertical annual budget
  • Lead testing excellence and testing standards ensuring Alkegen remains ahead of the curve for testing standards, quality and customer expectations. Use data to build strong models and generate sales collateral. Use data to help advise product management strategies
  • Support product definitions for new product developments alongside the commercial / product management teams helping to define the product technical and validation parameters in accordance with the latest standards
  • Mentor team members, providing performance feedback and training as required across the team. Develop succession plans / improvement plans as necessary
  • Play an active role in conferences acting as the product champion, supporting the sales team to build brand recognition and extending industry relationships
  • Support our customers in the field, providing onsite product and installation advice to drive a global target of zero in application failures
  • Drive excellence in all duties related to application engineering
  • Knowledge center; ensure all technical and application data remains accurate and accessible to Alkegen employees. Maintain a library on case studies and application history that can be easily referenced and used to support future projects
  • Training; ensure the team skills are continuously refreshed and they are trained with the latest product information. The team should also train colleagues and the sales, marketing and product management groups to support continued business growth
  • Customer focus; the customer comes first at all times. Ensure communication standards remain at the highest level, that customer questions are answered quickly, accurately with the right tone.
  • Certification / standards and regulations; the application engineering team will lead efforts interpreting, understanding and sharing information from relevant committees, ensuring relevant information to our products are understood and new test standards are applied as necessary.
  • Market intelligence; the application engineering teams are uniquely positioned at the customer interface and with deep technical knowledge to understand and interprets the changing demands of our industries. This drives core knowledge for product strategy (product management) and new product requirements (NPD) that will be shared with the relevant groups
  • Metrics and accountability; all activities should be measurable and individuals should be accountable for their responsibilities. The Group Leader Role will be responsible for tracking and maintaining key metrics and providing strategic insight to the AE Director
  • Collaborate with other application engineering groups driving excellence and continuous improvements. Play an active role in recognizing and tracking metrics that support business intelligence
  • Metrics showing work volume; insights into current sales insights/ activities and future plant/ operations demands
  • Ability to flex team during off seasons; providing scope to cross train team members, increasing overall familiarity of all Alkegen products and to share engineer resource to meet changing work flows
  • Be a partner with product management, sales and operations;
  • Product management - communicate learning from the market
  • Sales - support sales activities, remain responsive to customer requests and be proactive in meeting their needs
  • Operations - ensure new products/ product families are support through the plant, project managing the work flow to ensure they are produced OTIF


Qualification/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role. Preferably with experience in High Temperature Insulation filed and familiar with products like blankets, modules, pumpables and vaccum casted shapes
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design processes, and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results.
  • Proficient in engineering software and project management tools.


Compensation:

  • This position can be based in multiple locations.
  • For candidates residing in New York State, the range is $140,000-$150,000.
  • Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
