Full Job Description
The expected salary range for this position is $106,400.00 - $125,010.60. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. This Senior Grants Administration Specialist ensures effective management, implementation, and compliance with government and other multilateral donors and often liaises with other staff and stakeholders supporting/managing grants. This Specialist provides technical support and guidance to National Offices (NOs) to ensure the successful execution of grants in alignment with donor requirements. The incumbent leads administration of grant startups and supports monitoring and reporting in collaboration with the Project leadership at the National Office, MERL and finance team members. Additionally, the incumbent supports the resolution of risk or compliance issues during grant activity in coordination with legal and compliance teams. At this career level, the incumbent leads administration of major grant initiatives for multiple countries. Further, she or he often coaches and oversees the work of other specialists and related staff.

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion's ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ's mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion's Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion's internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Acts as the main liaison between offices for management of major grants such as US government or other institutional grants. Leads the oversight of the grants portfolio by organizing regular meetings with technical specialists from home and field offices to evaluate program progress and effectiveness. Assists in developing work plans, implementation schedules, and performance benchmarks.
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration between grants management stakeholders. Represents the organization in meetings with donors, partners, and other external stakeholders as needed.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the Core Grants Team to analyze market trends and competitors, identifies grant opportunities, and assesses their strategic alignment with organizational strategic goals and values. Recommends risk mitigation strategies for grant implementation.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the Grant Acquisition Team contributing to scoping, positioning, and developing proposals, collaborating with both home and field office teams.
  • Provides technical oversight and deep subject matter expertise for government-funded and other major, complex, and multi-national projects, ensuring they adhere to project plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinates the implementation across National Offices.
  • Works with legal and compliance teams and senior stakeholders to ensure all projects comply with grantor regulations and donor requirements. Conducts regular compliance reviews and addresses management bottlenecks with leadership as needed to ensure effective implementation and management of grant-funded programs.
  • Engages directly with donor representatives to facilitate compliance and reporting, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality reports to government and other institutional donors.
  • Trains National Office staff on grant management, compliance, and reporting, and leads specialized workshops to enhance grant management skills.
  • In partnership with the finance team, provides financial oversight of grants, including budget tracking and expenditure monitoring. Serves as a subject matter expert with regards to data collection and analysis frameworks to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Monitors and supports the effectiveness of the risk management plan for the grants. portfolio, ensuring robust processes for risk management and fraud prevention are in place.
