Full Job Description
We are seeking a Sr. Global Medical Coordinator to join our International Health Unit in North Wilkesboro, NC. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the role of Sr. Global Medical Coordinator,you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
  • Provide flexible senior leadership in order to fill critical leadership gaps, support continuity during transitions or surge periods, and strengthen Samaritan's Purse's ability to sustain multiple concurrent medical programs and responses.
  • Strengthen country office health programs and ongoing medical ministries through deployable strategic and technical support in coordination with the Global Health Manager, responsible IHU leadership, and country office leadership.
  • Lead medical efforts during disasters and humanitarian emergencies and serve as DART Medical Coordinator, Emergency Field Hospital medical leader, outbreak medical leader, or IMT medical representative.
  • Assess health needs and operational context, establish medical priorities within the assigned program or response structure, and advise field and headquarters leadership on medical strategy, scope, staffing, and resources.
  • Develop medical leadership capacity of IHU and support Medical Coordinator Bench. Mentor emerging medical leaders and participate in candidate assessment, training, exercises, supervised deployments, and performance evaluation in coordination with responsible managers.
  • Support clinical governance and promote quality and patient safety; evaluate clinical performance and outcomes, identify risks and opportunities for improvement, and support development and implementation of appropriate clinical standards, protocols, and quality systems.
  • Represent Samaritan's Purse to health authorities and humanitarian partners and participate in relevant coordination mechanisms. Develop effective relationships with Ministries of Health, WHO, UN agencies, healthcare institutions, NGOs, Emergency Medical Team partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Physician (MD/DO), Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP), or equivalent medical licensure and a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible clinical, medical leadership, healthcare management, humanitarian response, emergency response, global health, or comparable experience is required; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Master's-level education or advanced training in Public Health, Global Health, Tropical Medicine, Disaster Medicine, Healthcare Administration, Emergency Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • International experience in humanitarian response, disaster medicine, global health programming, resource-limited healthcare environments, or comparable complex settings is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Ministries of Health, WHO, UN agencies, governmental organizations, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, healthcare institutions, or international NGO partners is preferred.
  • Experience mentoring medical personnel, developing medical leaders, or supporting professional development within multidisciplinary teams is preferred.
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies is strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
