The Role

The Senior Global Benefits Specialist owns the administration, accuracy, and employee experience of Plexus' global benefits programs, with primary responsibility for U.S. benefits and support for Canada, Australia, and Mexico as needed.

This role serves as the operational expert for Open Enrollment, qualifying life events, leave administration, workers' compensation, benefits billing, payroll deductions, Benefits Hub in UKG, and recurring audits. Success requires exceptional attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, strong process discipline, and the ability to proactively identify issues, recommend solutions, and continuously improve how benefits are delivered.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you will:
  • Own Open Enrollment, qualifying life events, leave administration, workers' compensation, benefits billing, payroll deduction reporting, and recurring benefits audits.
  • Finalize and maintain accurate SOPs and documentation for all core benefits processes.
  • Improve the leave administration process by strengthening workflows, communication, documentation, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Establish audit controls that proactively identify discrepancies before they impact employees, payroll, or financial reporting.
  • Enhance the employee experience through accurate Benefits Hub administration and consistent, easy-to-understand benefits communications.
  • Build trusted partnerships across HR, Payroll, Finance, HRIS, brokers, carriers, and vendors while bringing forward both problems and recommended solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies, automation opportunities, and AI-enabled solutions that improve accuracy and scalability.

Performance Accountabilities
  • Own Global Benefits Administration by administering U.S. benefit programs and supporting Canada, Australia, and Mexico benefits processes while serving as the organization's subject matter expert.
  • Lead the End-to-End Benefits Lifecycle by owning Open Enrollment, qualifying life events, Benefits Hub administration in UKG, employee communications, and system accuracy to deliver a seamless employee experience.
  • Administer Leave and Workers' Compensation Programs by managing FMLA, ADA, disability, paid parental leave, workers' compensation, return-to-work processes, and applicable state leave programs with empathy, compliance, and consistency.
  • Ensure Financial and Payroll Accuracy by managing benefits billing, carrier reconciliations, payroll deductions, recurring audits, and reporting to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Strengthen Operational Excellence by developing SOPs, audit controls, process documentation, and reporting tools while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Maintain Compliance and Data Integrity by supporting COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, required notices, workers' compensation audits, vendor reporting, and other regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Build Strong Business Partnerships by collaborating with HRIS, Payroll, Finance, HR Business Partners, brokers, carriers, vendors, and leaders to resolve issues, improve processes, and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement by identifying risks, communicating issues early, recommending practical solutions, and helping build a scalable global Total Rewards function.

Performance Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive benefits administration experience, including ownership of Open Enrollment, leave administration, benefits billing, payroll deductions, and recurring audits.
  • Demonstrated expertise administering FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, disability, paid parental leave, COBRA, and other compliance-related benefits processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, XLOOKUPs, formulas, reconciliations, and large data-set analysis.
  • Experience administering benefits within an HRIS, including system testing and configuration support; UKG preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop SOPs, strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and implement scalable solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the confidence to identify issues early, communicate proactively, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the empathy to support employees through complex life events while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Experience supporting global or multi-country benefits programs preferred.
  • CEBS, CBP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
