About the JobThe primary function of the Sr. Concrete Estimator is to provide accurate bid proposals and comprehensive scope analysis for potential construction projects. Additional responsibilities include detailed quote review, effective project management, and efficient material purchasing. You will prepare precise pricing estimates on new projects and provide accurate estimations for change orders on existing contracts. Utilize sound judgment, industry expertise, and experience when calculating purchasing, concrete labor, equipment, and transportation costs to arrive at a full cost estimate, ensuring appropriate profit margins to achieve the Company's strategic and financial goals.
Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in business development efforts, proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. You will establish and nurture client relationships, participate in networking activities, and contribute to strategic planning to expand the company's market presence. Ultimately, your role will leverage your estimating and project management expertise to effectively grow and sustain business opportunities, enhancing the company's overall growth and profitability.

Salary: $120k/year - $160k/year

Department: Preconstruction/Project ManagementReports to: Director of Preconstruction/Regional V.P of OperationsSpecific Responsibilities:- Functions as Lead Estimator
- Read and understand job bid instructions, detailed specifications, prepare a "take off" of materials included in the job.
- Estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, equipment costs (including crane costs) to prepare a thorough price estimate.
- Review proposals, specifications, drawing, attend pre-bid meetings, etc...to determine scope of work and develop quantity take-offs.
- Incorporates safety in the means and methods of decision making during the estimating phase.
- Lead Strategic Client Acquisition Initiatives. Proactively identify and engage potential clients within the region, leveraging industry knowledge, project history, and regional trends to secure new business opportunities.
- Cultivate and Manage Key Client Relationships. Serve as the point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring long-term relationship health and client satisfaction through consistent engagement and trust-building.
- Participate in Client-Focused Events & Industry Networking. Attend (and host where appropriate) regional trade shows, industry functions, client appreciation events, and mixers to strengthen the brand and deepen market penetration.
- Lead Regional Project Pursuit Packages. Drive the pursuit of targeted regional projects by collaborating with sales, estimating, preconstruction, and marketing teams to prepare compelling pursuit strategies and presentations.
- Track and Report Regional Sales Pipeline. Maintain and update CRM systems with active pursuits, client touchpoints, and bid tracking, and present progress regularly through weekly regional meetings, email, etc.
- Mentor and Support Sales Training for Team Members. Guide and coach junior staff and field leaders on client-facing communication, proposal participation, B.E.S.T Sales Practices and how to identify upsell opportunities during project execution.
- Collaborate with Estimating on Bid Strategy & Scope Alignment. Review and provide feedback on bid strategies, client presentations, and estimating scopes to ensure alignment with client expectations and project profitability.
- Ensure Client Feedback is Captured & Acted Upon. Establish feedback loops with clients, post-project to assess satisfaction, identify areas for improvement, and pursue opportunities for future work or referrals.

Education/Experience/Attributes/Requirements
- 8+ Years of Experience in Concrete Industry.
- Experience in self-perform concrete estimating - for scopes of work in: foundations, flatwork, tiltup, sitework, structural concrete, etc required.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering preferred.
- Complete knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
- Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency
- Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to work equally well on own as well as in a team environment.
