Full Job Description
The Senior Engineering Systems Engineer designs and maintains the engineering systems and workflows that enable efficient, high-quality product development across the full lifecycle. This role defines how engineering work and product definition are structured across core processes (NPI, VAVE, engineering change, and configuration), implementing them as controlled digital workflows within MCAD, ECAD, and PDM systems across multiple sites. It owns the integration, governance, and integrity of product definition data across mechanical and electrical domains, ensuring a reliable digital thread from concept through release, sustainment, and end-of-life. Through hands-on engagement, this role delivers a scalable, low-friction system that reduces rework and improves speed and predictability of execution.

Essential Functions:
  • Define and implement engineering workflows for NPI, engineering change (ECR/ECO), VAVE, custom configurations, and sustaining activities to standardize execution from early concept through full lifecycle progression.
  • Establish and enforce engineering system standards and workflows as the system of record for product definition, configuration management, and release.
  • Configure and administer MCAD/ECAD and PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Altium) across multiple sites, including workflows, permissions, lifecycle states, vault structures, and system controls.
  • Define and govern integration of MCAD and ECAD systems into unified product definition, release, and lifecycle workflows, ensuring consistency across electrical and mechanical design data.
  • Own configuration management and product definition governance, including revision control, part structures, BOM integrity, and lifecycle control of engineering data.
  • Align engineering data across CAD, PDM, ERP, and downstream systems to enable a reliable digital thread across multiple engineering and manufacturing sites.
  • Partner with Advanced Product and Product Realization leadership to ensure engineering systems support execution from early concept through product release and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with Product Management and PMO to ensure work is initiated, structured, and progressed through standardized workflows that enable traceability and consistent execution.
  • Provide hands-on support to engineering teams to resolve workflow, data, and system issues while driving adoption through standards, training, and best practices.
  • Continuously improve systems and workflows to increase engineering efficiency, reduce rework, and enable faster, more predictable product development and release.

Critical Success Factors:
  • Builds and Advances Systems in Ambiguous Environments: Creates structure from undefined processes and drives progress toward a scalable engineering operating model while maintaining execution.
  • Creates a Trusted, Low-Friction System: Delivers systems that are adopted, reduce friction, and improve execution speed, data visibility, and governance across teams.

Education & Experience Required:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering systems, CAD/PDM/PLM, or related roles in a manufacturing environment. Experience supporting multidisciplinary product definition across mechanical, electrical, and firmware domains preferred.
  • Experience designing and supporting engineering workflows, including NPI, engineering change (ECR/ECO), and product configuration processes.
  • Strong experience with MCAD tools and PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks and PDM), including configuration, administration, and workflow management.
  • Exposure to ECAD systems (e.g., Altium) and interest or demonstrated ability to integrate electrical design data into controlled engineering workflows and product definition systems.
  • Experience managing engineering data and ensuring alignment with ERP or similar downstream systems.
  • Experience with system integration, data exchange, or automation (ERP, PIM, APIs, workflows, or digital thread initiatives).
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering (ME/EE), Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT.
  • Experience building or improving engineering systems in evolving or less-structured environments.
  • Experience developing standards, training, or adoption approaches to drive effective use of engineering systems is a plus.
  • Certified SOLIDWORKS PDM Administrator Professional (CPAP) or equivalent experience is a plus.
