DescriptionThe Sr. Engineering Manager is responsible for teams designing and analyzing solid rocket motor nozzles, creating engineering models/drawings, and developing engineering software tools. This individual will use their leadership skills and engineering knowledge to lead the development of design solutions that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead four teams (~60 engineers), two Nozzle Design and Analysis teams, an Engineering Methods and Processes team, and the Digital Design and Integration team
- Coach four engineering managers and their direct reports
- Guide subject matter experts in nozzle design, thermal analysis, and structural analysis
- Develop engineering talent through mentorship, development plans, and career pathways
- Partner with Nozzle value stream leadership to provide on-floor production support
- Establish and maintain certification and technical standards for engineering design and analysis
- Set strategic direction for the organization
- Implement efficiency improvements
- Manage engineering budgets and resource allocation
- Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 10 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 8 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 6 years of professional experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Minimum of two years formal engineering leadership experience
- Broad understanding of mechanical design, structural analysis, material behavior, and heat transfer
- Nozzle design, rocket motor design, or aerospace design experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 10%

Primary Level Salary Range: $151,500.00 - $227,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
